Working with Emily was one of the highlights of welcoming our little girl! We hired Emily to take our maternity, birth, and newborn photos, and I couldnt be happier with how they turned out. The photos are amazing and Im so grateful to have such beautiful and high quality images of such a special time in our life. Emily provided very professional, communicative, and personalized service; working with her was easy and fun and felt like hanging out with a friend. She went above and beyond to get the pictures we wanted, and was very quick in her editing/turn around time. I would highly recommend hiring The North Photography Collective for all your lifestyle photo needs!

Emily was a true gift to our family. Her talent for capturing this incredible experience was only matched by her kind and attentive heart. We had a more unique birth story as it included my husband, my daughter, my best friend, our Surrogate and her husband. Emily spent time learning about us, our fears, our hopes and our dreams. She never lost sight of that as we prepared for our little one to arrive and not for one moment as our incredible surrogate labored and delivered with our sweet baby boy. Emily made us all feel safe, taken care of and celebrated. She had a beautiful balance of giving us space and room and being there just when we needed her. I will never forget her hand on my shoulder in encouragement and strength as I held my breath waiting for our baby boy to be born. And the pictures, they are stunning and beautiful and take my breath away still. They capture all of the emotion of that day and the beauty and the love between all of us who were there. Emily will always be a part of our birth story not only because she captured it with such grace and talent but because she in it with us and we all were sad to hug her goodbye at the end of that remarkable day.

Before I start my long review- key point: Hire Emily as your birth photographer. I dont know how I first thought of having a birth photographer- my friends hadnt had one and it seems like a private moment where you wouldnt want anyone else there. Luckily, that didnt stop me as my search led me to Emily. A few other people got back to me, but Emily was very responsive, her rates were comparable to others, and her photos just looked better than other photographers collections. We met for coffee and connected right away. She cared about capturing the moments between people- showing the narrative and emotion of this most amazing event. I felt extremely comfortable talking to her about the whole process and hiring her- after I convinced my husband. He not only felt a little weird about the whole photographer in the delivery room but also concerned about the cost. I told him that it was important, and luckily, he went along with it. Heres the important part: After, he told me, I was skeptical at the beginning; I didnt realize how much value you could have from birth photography. Looking back, it was just incredibly worth it to have this capsule of exactly what happened that day and leading up to it. We both have no doubts and are extremely thankful for the gorgeous photos from that night. There really is no moment like the birth of your child. You dont need to get photos of the baby crowning or anything if you dont want- but the connection of you and your partner, seeing your baby for the first time, and all the emotions of the day- you are going to want to capture all of it. Biggest Stand Outs: - Emily is extremely sweet, comforting, and responsive through the whole process. - She is very knowledgeable of both birth and photography- With a background in other photography and work as a doula, she has more experience in both areas than most other photographers have. (If you look at some other photographers photos, the color ones are just not as good because they dont have mastery of low light photography. Emily does a fantastic job with both color and black/white photography). - Her photos are authentic which makes them much more beautiful than posed photos. - She does fast work and had the finished photos back to us very quickly. If you can swing a few extra bucks, get a birth photographer- and make it Emily. Oh and fresh 48 is worth it too!

It was clear three minutes into my first meeting with Emily that I wanted her a part of my birthing team. She was warm, friendly, flexible, funny, calm, and obviously talented. She listened as I talked about my vision for the pictures, and seemed to get it right from the start. In the weeks and days leading up to my due date, she checked in with me and quickly became a friend. When we were in labor, we texted Emily and she was right there, ready for the action. When our labor stalled for 12 (exhausting) hours, Emily was right there. She didnt leave the hospital, didnt seem rushed or impatient. She made us so comfortable (or as comfortable one can be 28 hours into labor). After a long and stressful labor, we ended up needing an unplanned C-section. In a bright and sterile operating room leading up to the surgery, Emily somehow managed to make it look intimate and warm, capturing the spectrum of emotion. When our daughter was held up over the curtain for the first timea vision that is forever seared into my memoryEmily captured that shot. And we are able to look at that image, that moment when legitimately our lives were forever changed, and we are so lucky to have it on film, preserved forever. Emily stayed around the hospital for several more hours, capturing beautiful moments as we learned to be a family of three. And never did I feel like there was an additional or unwanted presence around us. Emily is a true professional, knowing when to stay back, tiptoe out of the room, or make a joke. I look back on the best day of my lifethe most exhausting day of my lifeand cant imagine it without Emily by our side. She wasand still isa member of our team. Im so very glad that we made the decision to have Emily with us, and am so lucky that she said yes.

When we decided to hire a birth photographer for arrival of our little girl, it took a bit of searching to find exactly what we wanted: someone who would be a positive and calming presence in the birth space, someone with excellent communication skills, and, most of all, someone with talent at capturing all of the intense, emotional moments during labor and our daughters first hours with us. Emily was the perfect fit for all of those and more. Once we met her, we knew we could stop searching. She is kind, thoughtful, experienced, professional and a talented artist. Our birth photographs are amazing - so many moments, big and small, captured perfectly - and we are so, so, so glad we found her. If youre looking for the best birth photographer out there, we cant recommend her enough. My husband wasnt completely sure about having a photographer around during labor and delivery, but he will be the first to say hes so glad that she was there with us and that we have the incredible images that we do! Hiring her was worth every penny and more; it is truly amazing how quickly you start to forget those life-changing minutes and how fast your baby grows, but our photos bring us right back to the emotion and happiness of the day when we became parents. We will always cherish them.
