I fell from a curb in an atypical, poorly designed bus stop that was under construction, but was not marked As a result I sustained oblique humerus fractures with bone displacement that required surgery to put in a titanium plate to hold the bones together. Other attorneys I sought out didnt want to represent a complex "Slip & Fall" case that involved many parties because they are difficult to win and could have dragged on and on. My last ditch attempt to get representation was a call to OFT Law. Brendan listened to my story & determined to champion my cause. As a result of his efforts I was awarded a settlement that really made a positive impact on my lost time & ability to function normally. Ryan Osterholm and the OFT Law team stepped in to assist our family in garnering a settlement when no one else in their right mind would have taken on the previously filed lawsuit. I became ill during pregnancy with listeria & subsequently had a premature birth, due to eating a contaminated product, that was recalled after consumption. After the corporation involved had agreed to pay all medical bills related to the incident, but then gave the run around, and had threatened me with a risk manager, I reluctantly hired a lawyer.
I am not a litigious person, and with time dwindling down - I allowed for a personal injury lawyer to file my case. Unfortunately, food born illness law is extraordinarily complicated and not just any PI lawyer is able to appropriately litigate these cases, despite what they may tell you.
After two years without any movement towards settlement & a horribly uncommunicative (read: lazy) lawyer, in desperation I Googled firms who would be capable of handling our case. I was in contact with a third party who made me aware that due to the specificity of food born illness, there are essentially three firms in the US capable of litigating these types of cases - OFT Law is one of them.
Ryan Osterholm was straight forward from day one. It was difficult and I was so exhausted from all the run around leading up to my conversation with Ryan. I just wanted to find a lawyer that could represent us in a way that would provide justice to our family. I remember crying to him during our first call in the recounting of all the trauma that followed my diagnosis of listeria in pregnancy, even though he could have written off the case as too far gone, too messy, and too much work - he didnt.
Ryan not only agreed to handle the case and was able to push it to settlement. He did so with empathy & urgency to resolve the case. Ryan told me early on in one of our conversations that he always believed that if he could help someone by being the right person at the right time he would utilize his skills to do just that. And thats exactly what he did and who Ryan is.
Ryan was extremely communicative, straightforward, and just over all an answer to many, many prayers.
What would have taken another lawyer years to accomplish, took Ryan literal minutes. Because of who Ryan is, and the work he has done, the relationships he has built, he was able to drive the case to an agreement for settlement in less than two weeks. Once the settlement agreement was reached, it was just a matter of waiting for courts scheduling & administrative pieces to close out the case.
I cannot stress enough the importance of understanding that not all personal injury lawyers are created equal. Ryan isnt just a great attorney, hes a great human being - both are essential for getting to a point of justice.
Obviously, if youre reading Google reviews about a food born illness attorney, you havent had a good go at things - and hiring the wrong attorney for this particular type of case complicates things much further. To put yourself in the best position to bring about an equitable solution to your troubles, Id strongly recommend OFT Law & Ryan Osterholm.
