We worked with Prima Construction this spring to renovate our kitchen and family room area. This included removing a wall and a few added change orders that all went smoothly. The team was easy to work with and took my ideas with their to make me a dream kitchen. They went above and beyond by creating a plan for adding a pot filler that was originally possible due to the location of the stove. They did not once comeback asking for more money, the research they did before starting gave us a clear understanding of how much it would cost and the only added costs came from changes orders we added. We lived in the house while they were working and they kept the house clean and the area safe for when we needed to walk through. I would highly recommend Prima, the martial's used were high quality and the results were beautiful!

Prima was our contractor for a kitchen and primary bathroom remodel. Scott and Kim were great to work with on the design part of the project and Kim and her team were wonderful in the demolition and construction part of the project. She also empowered her team to question the paint we had chosen for the bathroom; once they started to paint the walls, the color didn't seem right to them. They were right - we ended up going with another paint color. We had a couple of minor issues that needed attention after the project was completed and Kim provided prompt and satisfactory follow up. We love the finished product. Service: Remodeling

We made the best decision going with Prima. Our kitchen and mudroom are everything we imagined and more. Kim and her team really take pride in their work and the finished spaces they provide. They were a pleasure to work with at every phase of this process. Kims communication is unmatched- weekly progress e-mails, walkthroughs, and quick response time to answer our questions. They helped us create our dream space within our budget and the constraints of our current space. The team went above and beyond. The work was completed on time and on budget! We cant praise them enough and recommend them to everyone! Services: Home renovations, Remodeling, Kitchen remodeling

I'm very sorry to say that my husband and I had to fire Prima after receiving nothing more than an unfinished design, for which we had paid in full. Here's why: 1)Little effort was put into the design, meetings were minimal, rushed, mostly online. The plan is everything - especially with the Prima process where they pretty much set the plan in stone once it's finished. (With Prima, you have to make every single decision for every single purchase ahead of time. No flexibility even when it makes perfect sense to delay a choice.) 2)You will always pay much more for every element in your kitchen due to their markup and they are not real transparent about this/how much more. (We had already made some purchases before we hired them which we were open and clear about.) Concerning paying more, AND THIS IS REALLY AWFUL: Prima knew what type of cabinets we wanted from the beginning of our communication. This should have been part of their estimates along with the myriad of other details we were clear about. When we received our first quote, after all their estimates, the cabinets cost twice as much as they had told us they would. (Even though they work with this cabinet maker all the time.) Their way to "fix" this was to charge us tens of thousands of $ more and then, regardless, still downgrade every single surface of our kitchen including the cabinets (!) - all surfaces we had been assured were inside our budget. (They're only defense would have been costs went up overnight -costs did not- but even in that case they need to take responsibility for a plan of their design that is not actionable - not charge us for it.) AND THIS IS EVEN MORE AWFUL: After firing Prima, we went back to that same cabinet maker (different storefront) with our new contractor. Guess what? The cabinets we wanted (same exact though we changed design/color later) cost HALF AS MUCH. Prima had doubled - that's DOUBLED- the cost - feeling comfortable to increase their profits that much by giving us nothing we asked for. The cabinet maker was shocked. Yes - designers mark up. Not. that. much. 3) Communication to us from Prima was horrifically disrespectful. There were times I was in tears. For example, blaming us for not being able to meet when I had told them I would be helping my daughter move for a month. Blaming in general. Telling us my husband had to join meetings - not inviting. Our communication remained polite but their communication plummeted to unacceptably rude and disrespectful. Email exchanges prove that to anyone. 4) Happy ending! We proceeded by hiring a carpenter/builder, NOT a kitchen remodeler -a profession I will never patronize again- who listened to our original desires and delivered something better than our dream kitchen within our budget with creativity and panash, respect and kindness, great listening and a desire to enjoy teamwork with mutual respect. His communication is great - decisions that can wait did wait for reasons he acknowledges are good reasons. We buy everything but building materials (because we are ignorant on that topic) - no markup. With Prima, before building started the price had gone up 30K and literally every single surface (which we had been assured would be included) was downgraded. Prima had lied to us about the cabinet price and told us costs were just higher recently. Outright lie. We now have the highest end version of those cabinets at the fair, if expensive, price. The carpenter will install for a fair price. No doubt you anticipate that I highly recommend you look elsewhere. I highly recommend you consider hiring an architect if necessary and then a builder rather than a kitchen design/remodel company. I cannot understand where the good reviews come from other than these people never looked under the hood or have entirely different expectations than I do. That's OK, but if you're like me, run as fast as you can. I thought about this review for months before posting. I waited until I experienced another team. These facts are not about meanness to anyone but, sincerely, about kindness to you.

Kim and her team are exceptional! We needed to work within our existing home's footprint and stay within our budget and Prima helped us come up with a super functional, hugely improved space and kept us on budget. From the initial planning and design conversations through the project itself, Prima was great. We were so impressed with how they helped us make smart choices, prepped our home to protect the areas where they weren't working in, showed up on time every day and kept the project moving forward and completed it within the expected timeframe. Our neighbors even remarked on how friendly the workers were! And the work they did is gorgeous! We are so happy with our kitchen renovation and so grateful to have hired Prima. They honestly exceeded our expectations. Would give 10 stars if we could! Services: Home renovations, Kitchen remodeling

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We are genuinely sorry to hear that your experience did not align with your expectations, and we are pleased to learn that you have continued with your project.Acknowledging your expressed concerns, we have proactively returned the unused portion of your design fee, demonstrating our dedication to customer satisfaction. As the second design team engaged for this project, we were informed of an expected completion by spring. However, our early interactions encountered significant delays, with weeks or months passing without a response. This pattern established an early precedent, leading us to tread carefully with follow-up communications due to previous outreach appearing unwelcome. Your recent review was our first update in months. We sincerely apologize for any miscommunications or misunderstandings that have arisen from this situation.Prima is committed to delivering high-end, full-service solutions. Our model necessitates finalizing all significant project components upfront to ensure clarity and efficiency. This method may not be suitable for everyone, and we regret any inconvenience this may have caused. This project presented unique communication and decision-making challenges. Due to the extended intervals between making decisions and revisiting them with all stakeholders, we emphasized the use of email correspondence and recorded Zoom calls to meticulously document each decision—a practice tailored specifically for this project's needs. To accurately capture your requirements and minimize any potential for misunderstanding, we adhered strictly to our policy that all key decision-makers be present during design meetings.Challenges arose in the cabinetry aspect of your project due to meetings held with our cabinet supplier without our involvement, leading to unintended design duplications and complications. The initial elevated quote was a result of additional customizations discussed in those meetings, of which we were not made aware. Despite these challenges, we endeavored to adjust the design to better fit your budget. In light of your concerns regarding dishonesty, we feel it necessary to elucidate the pricing details. The initial cost for the cabinets, as quoted by the cabinet maker prior to our involvement, was $43K. Adhering to industry norms, a 42% markup would set the price at $60K. To demonstrate our transparency, we have sent you a copy of this original quote. Through collaborative design adjustments, we were able to lower the costs to $31K. Taking your budget into account, we further reduced our markup, bringing the final cabinet cost to $42K, significantly below the standard rate. This effort to accommodate your financial constraints was the focus of our final communication. The assertion that we inflated costs or engaged in dishonest practices is unfounded and, we believe, harmful to our reputation. We respect your choice to manage certain purchases for your project directly. But that is not our business model. Our model is designed to provide a seamless, all-inclusive solution, encompassing all design and build aspects. We spent a lot of time planning and purchasing up front so the construction phase goes as smoothly as possible. We apologize for any misalignment with your preferences.Your feedback is crucial to us, and we will use it to enhance our service and customer experience continually. We are open to further discussion to resolve any outstanding issues.Thank you again for your feedback, and we wish you all the best with your new kitchen.
