I can't say enough about the incredible support I've received from MEDA (Metropolitan Economic Development Association) over the years. As someone who started a business on the side, MEDA played a pivotal role in my entrepreneurial journey, offering a range of services that have been instrumental to my success.
First and foremost, their consultant program provided me with a dedicated sounding board on a weekly basis. This support was invaluable as I navigated the challenges of starting and growing a business. We not only tackled practical tasks but also worked on shaping my entrepreneurial mindset, a crucial aspect of any business venture.
I also had the privilege of participating in the MEDA MINI-MBA program, a transformative 3-month cohort experience alongside other business owners. Together, we developed a comprehensive 3-year growth plan that provided me with a solid foundation for building and expanding my business. The program went beyond theory, delving into the intricacies of reading essential financial statements.
What sets MEDA apart is not just their educational programs but their commitment to practical assistance. They facilitated my access to grants, connected me with valuable customers and partners, and hosted a variety of high-value events. Through these events, I had the opportunity to network with fellow business owners and community members, creating a supportive ecosystem for small businesses to thrive.
In summary, MEDA is not just an organization; it's a community that fosters growth, learning, and collaboration. I owe a significant part of my business success to their unwavering support. If you're a business owner seeking not just guidance but a community that genuinely cares about your success, MEDA is the place to be.

I had the privilege of being part of the MEDA Ascend Program's 2023 cohort, and I must say it was an excellent experience. The program, which spans over 6 months, is a well-designed training program aimed at educating minority entrepreneurs on various aspects of business procedures.
One of the highlights of the program is its comprehensive curriculum, which covers essential topics such as marketing, finance, problem-solving, and bidding for contracts. The program ensures that participants gain a solid understanding of these crucial areas, equipping them with the knowledge and skills needed to thrive in the business world.
What sets the Ascend Program apart is its collaboration with the business schools at the University of MN and Ohio State University. This collaboration adds immense value to the program, as participants benefit from the expertise and resources of these prestigious institutions. The program provides a unique opportunity to learn from industry professionals and academic experts, ensuring a well-rounded educational experience.
Towards the end of the program, participants are given the chance to pitch their business ideas to Fortune 500 companies. This is a fantastic opportunity to showcase their skills and potentially secure valuable partnerships or contracts. The program's emphasis on practical application and real-world opportunities truly sets it apart.
I must commend the organisers and coordinators of the Ascend Program for their professionalism and dedication. The program was well-organized, and the coordinators were always available to provide guidance and support. Their commitment to the success of the participants was evident throughout the entire journey.
Another aspect that makes the Ascend Program commendable is its commitment to supporting participants even after the training is completed. The organization goes above and beyond to provide ongoing support, especially when participants secure contracts. This financial support is invaluable and demonstrates the program's genuine dedication to the success of minority entrepreneurs.
I am incredibly grateful and feel privileged to have been part of the MEDA Ascend Program. I highly recommend it to anyone looking to enhance their business knowledge and skills.
