The Fillmore Minneapolis

There's not really anything standout about this venue other than being very close to the light rail, but they don't even give you a light rail ticket like many other venues. Starting with entry, the security screening is intentionally slow to encourage you to buy expedited screening for around $30. They are also very bad at screening. They missed a large piece of metal in the secondary screening, and the magnetometer for the primary screening is set low enough to miss a cell phone. It would be very easy to get in with a weapon if you plan ahead. They use security screening as a crowd control measure, not to ensure anyone's safety. The drinks are on the high end of downtown prices, around $12 for rail cocktails. Seating is very uncomfortable in tiny folding chairs. They are also placed very close together. The notoriously small seats at Target Center seem luxurious in comparison. It's a reasonably large flat auditorium, so seating behind around row J means you'll have a better view if you stand along the sides. In the survey they sent afterwards, they asked about some experiences available like VIP area, photos, etc. I didn't see any of that waking around. The acoustics weren't very good, but it's small enough and the volume is loud enough that it's not a distraction. One very annoying thing was the show time is not the ticketed time. The tickets show when the doors open, you have to search around the internet to find the actual show time. Overall, I wouldn't come here for the venue to see a performer I didn't know, but I wouldn't skip a performance because of the venue.

My son attended a concert there. I picked him and his friends up. He said he liked the show a lot.

Have seen many concerts here. Always a great time. Could use more help in the Merch lines.
