Gilbert Mansion Bed & Breakfast

It was one of the nicest BnBs I have ever been to. The house tour and hospitality was exceptional. The hosts made you feel at home and comfortable. To top it off, the breakfast was delicious.

Very warm and enjoyable experience. We planned a one night stay and were so impressed we wanted to stay a second night. It was our anniversary and our hosts even made a private evening dinner for us (above and beyond the norm for sure!). Breakfasts were awesome! Very delicious spread. Sleeping is comfortable. Beautiful radiant heat and no blowing heater. Linen were all immaculately clean. We also recommend guests take time to hear the history of the home and learn about all the work our hosts have done to care for and restore the home. Overall, this is a highly recommended stay.

I stayed here with my partner - we're both history lovers, so I knew we'd be interested in the heritage of the beautiful Gilbert Mansion and would enjoy staying in such a historic home. But what I wasn't prepared for was just how incredible Christie & Tim are at hosting guests. Christie's experience as an interior designer shines through in her decoration and design of the mansion - and her passion for history ensures the careful preservation of its features. We did the tour and would do it again if we had the chance - it was the perfect mixture of fun, humor, and information about the lives of the fascinating Gilbert family and their impact on Grand Rapids. The breakfast was the best morning meal we've ever had in a B&B - a variety of sweet and savoury made with ingredients fresh from the garden and Tim's own maple syrup. The house is decorated for Halloween and gives a wonderful festive vibe - it is so clearly loved by Christie and Tim, I couldn't think of better hosts to share it with us lucky visitors. We hope to be back!

Wonderful experience!! The couple who runs the bed and breakfast made me and my wife feel at home. Will come again hopefully with friends.

Over Labor Day weekend, we made a quick trip back to MN to see family, and a definite highlight was staying at the Gilbert Mansion bed and breakfast. For a price less than what some hotels in the area charge for a night (minus the amazing food), you get the unforgettable experience of stepping back in time to 1904! Christie and Tim were the most gracious, amazing hosts, the food was fantastic, and the accompanying history and tour was extremely interesting. I won't give away any spoilers, but in a word (well, hyphenated word) "mind-blowing!" Whether you are local and want to treat yourself to a wonderful staycation or you have to travel to get there, add the Gilbert Mansion to your bucket list! As the sign above the front door says, "Enter as strangers - leave as friends," and we definitely will be back to visit our friends at the Gilbert Mansion!
