I've yet to have a well made espresso beverage there. This used to be my favorite place to order coffee at years ago but now that I live here and stop by semi frequently, I just haven't had a good drink yet. The soy milk mocha l had the other day wasn't steamed hot and didn't have enough chocolate so it just tasted like off tasting like warm soy milk. The baristas aren't exactly approachable, either, if I were to ask for a drink remade. I keep going back and trying again but it just never lives up to expectations. I've had their breakfast before which was decent and is why I'm giving three stars instead of two. UPDATE: Went here yesterday with a friend to grab a snack and a drink. She's lactose intolerant so there were no cookie or bread options for her. I got a cookie (pretty good), a chai with maple flavoring, and my friend got a drip coffee with maple flavoring. We both ordered a bowl of the three bean chili for $5.50/bowl. The cashier took the soup sign down after I ordered which I assume meant the soup was out after my serving. My friend said her coffee was watery and had to ask for more maple flavoring since she couldn't taste it. The barista said it's a weak syrup so she didn't mind putting more in. If that's the case then get a different syrup or just put more in originally. My chai with maple didn't taste like maple at all but the chai itself was fine, I like that the barista made it spicier. I didn't bother asking for maple syrup. Our bowls of chili though... My friend's was half full and she got it first. I waited a while for mine but eventually got it, and it was less than 1/4 full. Both of our bowls combined were less than a full serving. I figured there wasn't enough soup for both of us so she just divided it and hoped we would be fine with it. I asked the guy stocking cookies if the owner was around and he said no, so I brought my soup up to the counter and asked if I could have it discounted since i paid $5.50 for a FULL bowl, not a tiny scoop. I was nice about it, understanding things happen. That was until she blatantly lied and said she gave us both full bowls of soup, said mine was full when she put in on the counter, and even served another bowl after me. We watched her divide the soup among our bowls and we even talked to each other about how it looks like there isn't much, and we were right by the line so we saw no one else order soup after up, and mine clearly was not full. I don't appreciate her not being able to own up to a mistake and placing the blame on me. I asked for a discount again and after some more excuses, she refunded my whole order instead. I'm not sure she knew how to discount one item. I felt bad for my friend because she was visiting from out of town and this place left a really bad impression. It's a good story to tell though I guess. Also, she was the only barista during a very busy shift. She handled it well but could tell she was anxious. That's poor scheduling especially with how many events were going on that day (polar plunge, nice weather, some school event, an event at the DEC, etc.). It made wait times really long and lessened the drink quality even more. The good: -Cute inside -good location The bad: -Bad drinks -Not the friendliest staff/ poor service in general -Pricey bakery items and super expensive and dusty grocery section -not dairy free items (bakery)
