I was told by the office staff my dental insurance wouldnt pay. I submitted the claim myself and received over $800+ back. Very frustrating and felt deceived. Plus our health insurance paid the rest and they acted surprised!? I felt the need to express concern so others dont lose out on reimbursement. I hope this isnt common practice so you get cash up front? Also, after periodontal surgery, Dr Abrahmson has not examined how the graft took and I was told he doesnt need to see me for 6 months. Seriously? After reading reviews about your practice, I have concerns too. Definitely would not recommend.

On July 19, 2019, I (Jeff Wilson, spouse and covered dependent on my wife Lisa's insurance plan) was seen for initial consultation to examine puffy tissue on the roof of my mouth. I saw Dr. Abramson, and after a very brief visual exam, no tissue sample taken, with a clear health history, Dr. Abramson immediately suggested that a very invasive and extensive surgery would be required. There was no reason given; but Dr. Abramson's Lisa (his office person) supplied an estimate and directed me to find out what my maximum insurance coverage and deductible would be for the year, so that my insurance could be fully utilized to the maximum. The surgery would require weeks of a liquid diet, and was known to be very painful; and of course introduces risks as any surgery does. I had no pain whatsoever with the tissue; and I expressed my concern that he was jumping straight to surgery without even a tissue biopsy to determine if there was anything abnormal, whatsoever. I was clear with Dr. Abramson that his "diagnosis" seemed very premature, and their interest in discussing how to maximize insurance was their main concern. After this visit, I immediately scheduled a visit with a medical doctor, an ENT MD at Park Nicollet clinic. The ENT consult confirmed that the tissue was 100% normal, and the physician was shocked that there was any consideration of surgery without necessary medical cause. That was over 4 years ago. I was given an "estimate/treatment plan" when I left Dr. Abramson's, and the calls to schedule surgery began--they continued to emphasize how to "use up that valuable insurance" and perhaps instead to consider some implants if not the surgery. After I declined, and explained why, I was then billed $25 that my insurance did not cover because he was billing above network contracted rates. I disputed the charges and explained why; and placed numerous calls to the office, consistently saying that I dispute the charge. I was always told that they would "get back to me"--which no one ever did. I refuse to pay for care that was not only wrong, but also billing above and beyond-he was paid by my insurance for this visit, fair and square. Nothing but a visual exam and hasty, over zealous diagnosis to treat something that did not need treatment. I was sent harassing letters and threats for collections for 3 straight years. I responded each time; and was always told by the office/billing person that they would stop the letters. The last call I placed, was after receiving the final bill that they mailed on statement dated 8/31/22. Again, I was told not to pay, and that they would handle this. The letters stopped for one full year. After a year of finally relenting and presumably dismissing the $25 charge, on 8/23/23 at 1:13pm, I was called by Lauren, and threatened again with collections. This is predatory billing practice and there is no accountability for making a diagnosis that was well off necessary. You have this information, and this appears to be a pattern. I have impeccable credit and it is wrong that "doctors" abuse patients in this way, and conduct these types of billing practices. This has been filed with the BBB as well, as of today. I thought we finally reached agreement, but I will not tolerate continued harassments by this provider.
