Last week Dr. Gawlick did a root canal on my mother, an elderly patient with a documented history of cancer. During the pandemic,
Dr. Gawlick accommodated her condition by giving her the first appointment of the day, in order to reduce her potential COVID exposure. As such, everyone in the office is familiar with Moms compromised immune system.
When Mom was leaving the office after her root canal, she remembered that her oncologist had instructed her to ask the dentist for an additional five days worth of antibiotics. Upon making this request, she was told by someone at the front desk that she could follow up by phone the next day if it turned out that antibiotics were necessary. By the next morning, Mom was in urgent care, where she waited 3 hours to see a doctor and was exposed to the 12 sick people waiting in line ahead of her. Now that that additional round of antibiotics is complete, her face is still infected, and she is receiving a last-minute appointment from her primary care physician, who has gone the extra distance to rearrange her schedule today.
To the person in Dr. Gawlicks office whos reading this review and wondering why we didnt bother to call and work it out personally, you had your chance to do the right thing and you blew it. Thats all you need to know.
