My son used this law firm to get parenting time with his son bec the mother wouldn't let him see him. Once he paid them money up front, the attorney, who had to of known the mother would be difficult, kept telling him they wouldn't do the next step needed until he paid more. For example, when mediation fell apart, an emergency motion shouldve been filed for the judge to figure out some sort of parenting time my son could get with his child while this matter was still in court so they could get to know each other. Even if it was supervised.

Went to them for advice regarding family law. They convinced they could help so I hired them. After they were paid and the case begun, they did a complete 180 telling me I had no choice but to settle in mediation, causing me to lose my case. The lawyer didn't listen to any of the concerns I had for my childs safety. When I tried to talk to them after the case was settled, it came out that it was because I wasn't willing to pay more money to go to trial. I explained multiple times I did not have the money it wasn't that I was choosing to just not pay them. Also when I brought up those safety factors the lawyer just kept asking if I had proof, which I feel was a little late to ask that question. As I do have proof. The lawyer did not read through my case and sent me down the wrong process. She said instead of the mediation I should have filed something else to hold the father accountable for the things he was supposed to be doing to keep my child safe, no drugs, no smoking, no drinking, that he actually exercise his parenting time. Because of the lawyers bad advice and incompetence I started a motion for my child's safety and it ended with the father getting 50/50. After mediation they wanted $1100 to draft up paperwork which I explained I did not have. I was not aware of that expense at the beginning. I ask for them to wait until I was paid as I was working a commission only job. They harassed me almost everyday until I fired them telling them I would not be paying them for the drafting. I never ignored them. Answered calls when I could or returned them when I had a chance. I have texts and emails showing I also responded.

Emily: It's difficult to fully respond to your review because, as you note, you were not a client of the firm. We don't have you connected to any client, so it's not clear who you're referring to. That said, we do charge for our services based on packages of specific work we will do. It sounds like you are describing the additional work of bringing an emergency motion to the court for parenting time which wasn't necessarily envisioned and/or purchased at the time of hire. In that situation, it is true that we would have a client enter into a Service Agreement and pay a fee for that legal work. We almost always choose the path of least resistance in starting a case.

Tara, Our careful review of your matter shows that we settled your case in mediation and were working toward memorializing your agreement through a court order. We were never able to complete that work due to not hearing back from you to purchase those specific services. We also understand from our review of the public court website that you attended a hearing after you were no longer represented by us, and were ordered to pay opposing party's attorney's fees for the motion he brought to enforce the mediation agreement you previously signed. Please know your attorney worked diligently on your behalf to advocate for you and guide you to a reasonable resolution of the case. We regret your dissatisfaction. We have a phone call scheduled with you next week and we hope we'll be able to reach some common ground.
