image Never really ever really had a bad experience here as far as dealing with the nurses or doctors here they have always been nice and pleasant. True as to say you get treated and you treat others especially since they deal with all kinds of belligerent people all day. Only down side is the ER wait time. A lot of days are long waits but depending on what youre here for youll be seen quickly if its important you be seen right away. People hate on this hospital so much and I dont know why.

image I brought my one year old daughter in last night, they took her temperature and it was at 104.3 degrees with a 184 heartrate. This was our second time there this week for congestion, a wet cough, difficulty breathing and a high fever. The first time she was diagnosed with an upper respiratory infection, gave a steroid for her breathing and sent home. This time we saw a doctor at around 6pm who said she was going to grab a stethoscope and did not come back until hours later right before we were discharged. No one even listened to her lungs. She was given Motrin when we first got there and then we sat waiting for hours with no news. Her vitals were then checked again 3 hours later (around 9pm). Her heartrate was still high at 174 and her fever was 101. They gave her Tylenol and had the previous doctor AND doctor Hanna come in. She looked in my daughters ears and said we could go home. I expressed to her that the pediatrician was wanting chest X-rays and possibly bloodwork done. She then got very sassy with me & told me if I want X-rays done I can go to the pediatric office & get them done there because she is NOT doing them. We were then discharged. I made an appointment with our pediatrician this morning (12 hours later) who examined her & found her ears were bright red with pus fluid coming out of them. She was diagnosed with a double middle ear infection and immediately put on antibiotics. I am VERY disappointed in the attitude & lack of care that we received. I will NOT be going back.

image Completely missed the opportunity to diagnose shingles on a 58 y/o patient who showed up with severe pain on one side and rashes. Instead recommended physical therapy, delaying the diagnosis and treatment. That should have been a relatively easy thing to dx. Medical staff are over worked, under paid, and maybe need to unionize to fix their harsh working conditions.

image Developed a severe ear canal infection in both ears with the left being worse. I had already been on oral antibiotics and drops for 2 days (from Urgent care, because I had just started my job) and was in about as much pain as I could handle, as I went to urgent care first. I had just spent 2 days in bed, in pain waiting for the antibiotics to kick in and the infection to subside, but it wasn't working so I decided to go to the ER as I didn't want to miss anymore work and I wanted to get BETTER, as I had been using wet, hot wash clothes for the pain and motrin. I have had this problem before and knew I needed an ear wick inserted into my left ear as it had swollen shut cutting off the bottom of my ear canal from the drops reaching it and it wasn't getting better. I SIMPLY WANTED THEM TO NOT INSERT IT WITHOUT NUMBING or pain relief or anything so that I wouldn't be in agony when they did this, as I know it's a level 11 on the pain scale. I wanted to know why I wasn't getting better from the antibiotics, maybe a different antibiotic was needed, they didn't even look at what I was prescribed. I wanted relief from the pain. Why do they ask you where you are on the pain scale (I was at a 7), if they aren't going to do anything for it or even properly treat the issue. When I said it hurt and I was in pain, the nurses treated me like a drug addict. I had a valid medical infection and was already being treated for it and it wasn't getting better, and they did nothing extra than what I asked for, the ear wick. I'm not a dang Doctor. The left ear was so swollen she couldn't even get the tip of the scope in my ear without making me holler in pain. I was in tears with fear that they would shove that little 1 inch hard piece of wood (compressed cellulose) looking thing into my completely swollen closed ear canal and when I mean shove, I mean SHOVE. No regards for anything I might be feeling. I SCREAMED in pain, I screamed it hurt, she kept shoving, I sobbed, as she was shoving it as I realized we were doing this again without any pain management. The nurse that inserted the wick was rude. She didn't talk to, comfort, or calm me as she performed this insertion, just pushed as I screamed in pain. She just did it and walked away. They gave me a glass of water as I sobbed from the pain. Handed me my discharge ppwk and shoved me out the door just like they shoved the wick in. It's Sunday, the ear wick is out and my left ear is still swollen closed at the bottom near my tympanic membrane, so I can't hear anything out of my left ear and I'm hoping the drops help because I'm out of antibiotics because NO REAL CARE was given at this hospital. So I'm in the same boat now, still with an ear infection, as I was in prior to coming in and now expecting a bill for a couple grand for care that was subpar at best. So now because I wasted my time and money at this facility, if it doesn't clear up on it's own I have to miss more work, at a job I've been at for a month, because I didn't receive proper care when I went in. I have never been treated like cattle before but I'm fairly certain this is what it feels like when you go to a medical institution for a legit medical infection and get treated like a subhuman. I'm sure I'll get a full bill for the lack of service I received. I lost a sister to an overdose. I get the policies are there to protect people, but what happened to taking care of people? I had a legitimate and visible infection. Maybe a damn lidocaine shot or something. Ear infections are painful, but apparently not painful enough even when causing sobbing and screams of "it hurts" to warrant any proper treatment. I relocated from Florida back to Michigan after 7 years and this hospital was one of the best. I won't ever go back now. Update: I went to an ENT and found out I had a rare infection with BLISTERS on my ear drum and becusee they didnt do a thorough exam on my left ear they didnt catch it. I needed stronger antibiotics and 10 days of steroids prescribed by the ENT. They didnt even properly diagnose my issue.
