Women's Resource Center

The women's resource center of Traverse City has been absolutely useless when I've called 3 different times in the last 3 weeks, specifically the MAN that's answered the phone 2/3 times I've tried to ask for help or ask about RESOURCES from the "WOMEN'S RESOURCE CENTER". I will say that the woman that answered the first time I called was kind. Zero empathy or compassion from the male worker. All I've gotten from the man is questioning about my situation and skepticism with no direction. I just called this morning on 2/29/24 to inquire about help or resources for serving the PPO i was just granted by grand traverse county. His response was well have you been here before? Did we help you ask for the ppo? In a very strange tone for someone answering the phone for a domestic violence agency. I said no I did it myself, he just said well we typically only help if we helped file for the ppo with a very sour demeanor. I didn't know I had to be living at the shelter or have gone there physically to receive assistance. The website says call for anything and they will help. That is a lie. Don't get your hopes up if you're a woman in need of assistance, this agency talks a big game but doesn't deliver. It's unfortunate there are no other options in the area. Really disappointing, you are part of the problem and are directly involved in the vicious cycle women must endure because of the lack of support you are willing to provide. Shame on this person. Of course, I realize this is not everyone's experience but it is what I've been experiencing after finally leaving my abuser. Thanks so much! I pray that I'm the only one getting this treatment and that it isn't commonplace.
