The instruction while actually getting out there from Jeff and Brian was good and the safety aspect was very good. But I was disappointed by the lack of management for organizing lessons. I know the wind was bad most of the time I went out which was bad luck, but there were a few occasions where I felt with better communication, we could have finalized and closed the lessons. I even went out of my way to go to NC with the group to do this, but at last minute, they didn't have the equipment they needed and again poor communication. Likewise, there was one instructor Dan who was completely out of hand in giving a lesson. The wind again was poor, but he was incredibly inappropriate trying to rip the kite off me without permission when the wind was very little.
It is unfortunate because they appear to know what they are doing, but in terms of managing people especially women this isn't they best company to learn from. Needless to say, they will say "not everyone gets on the board" and "there are a few people every year who have bad luck" is not a very encouraging mantra if you are trying to have good success rates.

GREAT Shop & True to their Word Service. I'm a newbie who took a 2-day lesson with Great Lakes Kiteboarding. Unlike other shops I've gone to that didn't offer a refund, discount, or make up when the wind cut my lesson short, Brian at Great Lakes was committed to getting me on the water. My first lesson at a competitor in Western Michigan was disappointing due to the lack of wind, and was basically screwed out of my lesson fee. BUT, Great Lakes Kiteboarding was much different. My first lesson with GLK was also cut drastically short because of a lack of wind and biting flies. I was disappointed with my bad weather luck. But Brian, true to his word, rescheduled a continuation of my lesson and I tried again. This time, i got farther into my 2 day lesson, but still didn't complete the lesson because again due to a lack of wind. But Brian once AGAIN stayed true to his word and worked with me to finish up my lesson the following spring to get me up on a board.
This is how you run a business. Stay true to your word, keep your customers happy, and they'll reward you with business. Thanks again to Brian L. and Jeff S. of Great Lakes Kiteboarding.
