So I called Michigan sandblasting 2 times to talk about what I needed sand blasted. I needed the underside of my car sandblasted. I was very clear that the car ran and drove around. He said no problem, they have 1000s of cars that way. So I drive the 125 mile trip to their shop. When I get there they look at the car and say they cant do it. First excuse was because it had the fuel tank in it. Thats no problem, the mechanic shop next door said they would take it out. No big deal. Then they say that they may get the paint sandblasted, again no biggie, I told them I am taking the car to be stripped and repainted after the sand blast. Then they said that they may get sand in the inside if the car, again, no big deal, because the inside is getting redone as well. Then they said they cant do it because it has the engine in it. I literally asked them on the phone if they will do it with the engine and transmission in it and they said yes. So for the conclusion of the sub optimal experience, they said they wouldnt do the job and gave me $100 for my time and fuel. Thats nice and all, but I drove 250 miles round trip getting about 14 mpg pulling the car with my diesel truck. Let alone the 6 hours of my time. I am truly amazed that they would misinform me on the phone. Again, I called twice to make sure they would do this job and they assured me they do. The shop said there must have been some miscommunication. I told him not on my part, I never would have driven that far if I was at all doubtful that they may not do the job, they assured me so I did. If a shop does not or cannot do the work, thats not a big deal, just tell me before I waste 6 hours of my time and 250 miles of driving.

Business Response on Google Aug 10th, 2023
Hi Kris, We apologize again for the misunderstanding. However, we would much rather turn you away than produce a sub-par result on your beautiful car. Our policy to not sandblast a car with the gas tank in place is a long standing policy for both safety and quality standards. We completely understand how making the long trip was frustrating and costly. We only hope the $100 cash is strong evidence that we were very sorry for your disappointment. It can be very difficult to accurately access a job over the phone. We feel strongly that working on the car in its current condition is risky and will not give you the quality you deserve. We truly hope that after you disassemble the car as planned you will give us an opportunity to complete the job the right way. Please give us a call when the time comes so we can work something out.
