Edit 2: At this point now, this location would have been better as parking garage. At least then there would be less struggle to find a place to park for all the other businesses downtown. Our citys leadership took away decent parking spaces by doing the dumb bus terminal. What happened to the little coffee place there? Oh right it didnt work out. Just like everything else Freed and Repp and Larry Jones get their claws into. Check out my review of the Municipal Office Building. March 1, 2024. A snapshot in time. An enormous beast crowds the walls of the city municipal building. An elephant. Those who contribute to the coffer of The City of Port Huron deserve to know: Who is Larry Jones? And why/how has he earned access to public grant money and endowments so that he can fumble around with failed endeavors? A simple google search reveals contributions from the SCC Community Foundation, as well as the State of Michigan. But much more relevantly, it is known the depth of involvement that the City Council, and city administration carries in this matter. A recording was made public today. Regardless of the means it was disseminated, it speaks for itself. Although it is a video, the images are lacking and irrelevant. It is the words that are said that contain the truth. The words of a person that this Citys leadership has entrusted with a frivolous project. They reveal a scared, confused and angry man. His pride betrays him. And yet our Council has granted him the ability to effectively waste 16 million dollars into a building that is collapsing in terms of its soundness of construction, as well as its ability to generate revenue. The public should demand the release of the Citys documented due diligence into Mr. Jones, regarding his merits upon which the City granted certian benefits. The public is sick of leadership that brushes problems to the side for no reason other than convinence. It is sick of City staff whose addiction and carnal appetite call into question their adminstrative acumen. Do better Port Huron. Edit 1: I heard the hall is closing. Is this true? Dona Marinas was the only good resturant, and they didnt make it. Everything else is decent but over priced. You can already tell they dont have enough foot traffic. Why do they have junk piled up on a public sidewalk? Why do the railing already look so bad? Why do the ingredients seem cheaper, and the portions smaller than when they first opened? Didnt someone fall from the rooftop bar because they werent up to code? What is this about contractors not being paid? This is a cool concept but it needs to be executed by professionals.

What a disappointment this place is. Friday night between 6-7 pm, place is mostly empty. The only food open was What the Fry. The main beer hall area was open downstairs but most of this place looks abandoned and not cared for. Its February 23rd and there are dusty Christmas decorations everywhere. There is almost no signage telling you where to go, or where not to go. The beautifully restored train is not protected at all, to preserve it OR to prevent people or children tripping on it or getting injured. How is this ok? Up on the bridge area upstairs a beam has been cut out almost in half to make room for the poorly planned railing. I honestly did not feel safe after seeing that. I dont know if more places open up when theres live music or something, but downtown was busy and no one was here. Seems like a spectacular failure.
