Our family had been renting lake cottages in northern Michigan for several years, and since we enjoyed our times at the lake so much we started look at existing cottages for sale. However, early in the looking stages, we stumbled upon a buildable lake front lot that we liked. The thought of building a place of our own was daunting! So we kept looking, but it was difficult to find something that had many of the features that we desired. Specifically, high end quality paired with a modest size. After reading a review about HarborView Custom builders, we contacted the owner Benjamin Fettig. Ben took the time to explain the easy process and answer all of our questions even after I told him we were in the early stages of considering the purchase of an empty lot. Ultimately, we chose Harborview Custom Builders over three other local builders to build our dream vacation home and it was the best decision that we made! Ben explained that the process would be surprisingly easier than we would imagine and fun. He helped us to keep it flowing with his extreme motivation and enthusiasm for the project and by keeping a manageable timeline for the decisions that were required along the way. Harborview is relentless in their quest for quality and efforts to build exactly what we wanted. They provided timely and accurate estimates / invoicing along with offering professional advice whenever we asked for it. They also offered some incredible ideas / options that we greatly appreciate . Ben treated us the way he would want to be treated as if he was the customer. If there was a part of the cottage that his team didn't personally complete themselves, they used only the BEST contractors. Ben even stopped by on occasion post build just to make sure that we were enjoying the place and ask if we had any questions. Harborview is the only builder we would use and we are proud to call Ben our friend. The cottage that his team built for us is nothing short of spectacular to say the least. WE are filled with gratitude that we chose a builder that always put our needs first, kept the whole process manageable and surprisingly FUN.
