Had a really strange, unethical, uncomfortable phone call with the receptionist (and apparently the office manager - I wouldnt know since the receptionist forwarded me over to someone without any warning). I had to ask a question, a very simple question at least 10 times and they kept spinning me around in circles over and over and over again with slightly different variations of non-answers. And then finally after a long time, she said we cant disclose that. The question was super simple. They use appliances for TMJ. Those appliances are made at a lab and therefore its sent to that lab to be made. I asked to know what lab made the TMJ mouth appliance. A very simple and straightforward question. Nothing difficult to understand OR answer. The reason I asked this is because the receptionist on the phone stated this office only uses appliances for TMJ and therefore if you did an appliance therapy with a previous TMJ doctor, it would be very similar treatment. So, that was the reason why I asked where the appliance was made so I could see if it was the same lab as my prior TMJ doctor used. Obviously, this is important to know as a potential patient to see if youre using the same appliance as the last doctor that you saw, which did not work and caused great increases in pain. So, not only was I disrespected on the phone, I was treated like I was absolutely nothing, lied to and manipulated over and over again. They tried telling me that this question was clinical and you could only ask the doctor this question because its clinical and they are not doctors. We all know thats a lie. This is not a clinical question. You dont need to be a doctor to answer this. It was just a very uncomfortable, unprofessional, disrespectful conversation. Even if they called me the next day to apologize and answer my question, which they would never do, I would still never feel comfortable enough to come to this doctors office with any medical condition. Also, she kept pushing that Id have to come in for a consultation to have this question answered. (They do not take insurance, it cost $400 for a 2 hour consult.) Even if the consultation is free, why would I drive an hour to the office to have a simple, basic question answered.
