Precision Garage Door of Mid Michigan

I loath the fact that I even have to do thisbut I engaged Precision Garage Door to fix a broken spring. The appointment process is great, the punctuality to appointment was spot on, the technician couldnt have been nicer; the problem is in the way they go about assessing your need. Upon arrival, Tim and I had a conversation about the problem and he set expectations that other things may nee to be done. I attempted to redirect his expectations by indicating that we are fixing springs today, but go ahead and write everything up for further discussion. When he completed the assessment, he showed that the lift cables were near end of life, the roller bearings were done and there was a crack in the top rail of top door panel (requiring a complete new door). I reiterated the mission of spring replacement. I further indicated that PGD was my first call and so far I am willing to have them do all the work at some point. Tim told me that if I dont do everything today that he WONT do any of it. This is the use of scare tactics and coercion to achieve their goals to maximize per call rate. In addition, I learned that the techs work on commission further motivating them to push the invoice total. I am not going to say whether you should engage their business, you need to determine that for yourself. For me, this is not how I do business.

Our door was installed at least a year ago. No problems till the night we were installing Christmas lights. Suddenly the door wouldn't go up. I called the next day and the young man that came determined quickly the original installer hadn't put clips on all the electrical connections. He put them on and it worked. Because it was the original installer's mistake he didn't charge us anything. Good service, fast help so I am happy.
