Matt Vernon was nothing but rude and disrespectful. Would not answer any of the questions we had and said I wont be going back and forth and had also told us he doesnt need our money. Very unprofessional and I wish him nothing but failure in the future. Please dont spend your money with the name Vernon attached to it, he doesnt appreciate it.

I lived in the downtown location owned by the Vernon group for a year. If you enjoy lack of communication and living with a bad landlord, then this is the place for you. The walls are thin and you can hear everything the neighbors say and do (if you catch my drift). If you live on the top floor you can expect the roof to leak each and every time it rains and be painfully aware of the weather outside. When you call the front desk to request a fix, they will dispatch the maintenance guy to install drip pans and drill runoff lines through the wall. While my landlord deems this adequate, I can assure you the sounds of dipping water over ones bed are not calming ones, nor do they address the true issue. There is no emergency number to call for lockouts or emergencies after hours, and you can expect no response to even the most strongly worded emails sent during business hours. I came back to my apartment to find cigarette butts on the patio and once to a rectangular cutout in the drywall. The water in my installed washer would not get hot, and service requests for this to be remedied went unanswered. The apartments look nice and modern, and the location is very convenient, but those are about the only positives that I can think of. When he tried to raise rent 20% for me to renew my lease, I didn't think twice about leaving.

I've worked with Matt Vernon and his family a few times. I've always had a great experience and would recommend them to friends and family looking for a place in Kalamazoo. Keep up the good work Matt!
