On the front of every invoice including Ben's, it says "Engines under 90k we cover timing, engines over 90k we do not, and we expect the customer to replace timing, please read our warranty policy for details!" On the back it explains the timing policy, as most manufacturers say they should be replaced every 80-100k. Ben bought an engine with 119,041 miles on it, it ran well here and we took a video of it running (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ixlPFvRVmXc) It said on his invoice on the front and back that he is responsible for replacing the timing. We have asked Ben to submit a quote or invoice for repair for the issue to see if there is anything that would be covered under our warranty, we are happy to help and repair or replace the engine if the engine itself has an issue, however the timing chain specifically is not covered on any engine that had over 90k at the time we sold it to them. Our warranty policy is available at PetesAuto.net and we are happy to go over it with anyone interested, it's just one page, it's not like a ton of small print. I do absolutely empathize with Ben, it would be terrible to buy an engine, have it installed, then just five weeks later find a timing chain issue! I just wish he had read the front or back of his invoice, or that whoever installed the engine had or had swapped the timing chain when the motor was out of the vehicle and it's much cheaper and easier to install. I also hope nobody ever has to go through this, because I hope they read this review and our warranty policy and realize they need to follow some simple instructions when installing a used engine!
