Amazing school besides a few very very minor things. Kids are nice and some teachers are nice.

PLEASE DO NOT SEND YOUR CHILD TO THIS SCHOOL!!! Hello, I am a former student of this school. I left this place three years ago due to severe bullying that was happening among many other things. I went to this school since I was in fifth grade and I left after my eighth grade year, so I have experienced Bertha Robinson as well. It is no better. Here are the problems I faced while going to this school: 1) There is no end to the bullying. I was bullied almost every single day because I was "different" from the other students. I did not label myself as different, it was the other students who did that for me. I wasn't popular, I wasn't rich, I was just a kid going to this school, but I was automatically left on the side because I was "weird." Eventually it got to the point where I recorded a podcast in the Technology class Mr. Hunt taught when I was there about bullying because I couldn't take it anymore. No matter what I did, I was bullied. My personality, my looks, my stature, nothing was left alone from other kids who would bully me. 2) East Jackson doesn't care about your child. When I was getting bullied, nobody helped me. No matter how many times I went to other teachers, the principal, the counselor, or the office ladies, nobody helped me. I tried so many times to get them to do something, but nobody did anything. After a day passed when they "stepped in" (which was only twice), it would go back to the same thing. The teachers are no different. The teachers could care less about your child or their success. They will blame your child if they have any "shortcomings" or learning disabilities. I have a brother who still attends EJ, and the school had the gall to tell my mother that he needed to be put on medication, BUT DIDN'T TRY TO HELP HIM. They blame the student, when really it is the school's problem for not taking the effort to try and help them. 3) The school is too focused around athletics. If your child is not a jock or a cheerleader, they are nothing in this school. East Jackson is not good at any of the sports they offer. I once attended a football game where the school I currently attend went against them, and they only scored three points. Three points. Yet all of their money earned off the students goes towards these teams though nothing comes out of it. They do nothing else but this. All of the other programs, like art, are funded out of the teacher's own pocket most of the time. The school gives them a set fund for each project they do, but it is barely anything. Each time, it slowly decreases to the point where some art teachers have been forced to completely pay for everything. So your child better be athletic or they're worth nothing more than a chewed up piece of gum. 4) East Jackson no longer allows people to review the school on their Facebook page. Almost two years ago, East Jackson took off the ability to review the school on their Facebook page due to the overflow of negative comments that reviewed the school perfectly. Parents were complaining that their children were being bullied to the point where it left physical wounds that viciously bled. But instead of addressing these issues, East Jackson took the coward path and instead took down the ability to review the school. That is one reason why many parents don't know of the things that really happen in this school, they continue to try and cover it up. While I don't have enough time to say anything else, this covers the basis of everything. This school doesn't even deserve one star, but I can't rate it any less, so here we are. Please do not torture your child by sending them to this place.
