Inkster Nature Trail is only well maintained up to where you meet the creek, not the full 1-1/2 miles of trail loops shown on the map at the trailhead. Parking for the Nature Trail is at Inkster Park across the street. This park features a paved walking trail, pavilion, restroom building, and new, accessible playground. It also has a nice wide tressle bridge crossing the creek. The paved trail continues to Inkster Rd. and connects to Colony Park. The road for cars and parking areas are not paved, comparable to parking areas at Hines Dr., which is also maintained by Wayne County. New signage and the play structures seem to be part of the same upgrade efforts recently made at Hines Dr. The paved areas some reviewers show in their photos are in Inkster Park, not the nature trail. To access the nature trail, one must cross John Daly from Inkster Park. There is no crosswalk or sidewalk to the neighborhood on the nature trail side, but traffic is not a problem. There is a short, steep slope down to the path just at the trailhead, then you are on a wide mulched path through the woods, about 1/4 mile, until you reach the creek. The trails after this point are narrower and not as well maintained. We did not continue past some small fallen trees across the path. There was some litter near the trail head, but not too bad. It was a nice walk with our dogs. More of the trail being clear and maintained and a set of steps or shallower slope to begin would earn this trail more stars.
