This used to be my favorite thrift store but over the past few years it's becoming more and more overpriced. Also about 15 minutes to close they shut a bunch of lights out and there are some spits in there that become so dark you can't see a thing. I find that rude and also a safety hazard for shoppers.

Update, 9/12/23 - Although appraiser volunteer is back at the store, (without ANY of his group of original volunteer friends who left with him, in solidarity) I see little in the way of changes. Apparently, the store manager was "let go" and now runs Ditto! NO new store manager as of last week. After a couple of weeks, said old store manager started at Ditto (beginning of last week - 9/4/23). I'm expecting that he will slowly change how things are run at Ditto and I won't be surprised. I will observe and do an update on Ditto. Much like the way Community Action House decided to punish resellers (by changing Clover app, making points unusable - no option to compensate for unused points), I am waiting for this guy to do the same in his new domain (not the same customer appreciation check-out app but still, regulars get points). I wouldn't be surprised if he takes that away as well, without giving regular patrons and senior customers anything. Despite the the fact that within the last few years, I've spent an average of $200. (and plus) a month, I am fearful. I go to Ditto because I LOVE how the staff ran the store (years now). I always felt that Ditto was one of the best thrifts to visit. Now, I'm not sure; already new people there; already seeing changes which include: Nasty attitude from the jewelry lady toward me (after I spent around $200. in jewelry, July / August); a new woman doing appraisal assessments in the back room - all older items used to be assigned to years long volunteers, in all areas of home decor or holiday or what they called "Dittover" items (she is a partner in a years long estate sale service, based in Grand Rapids). I will continue to frequent each both stores, but I have reason to be skeptical. UPDATE: 11/22/22 - THIS STORE IS NOTHING NOW. ALL OF THE VOLUNTEERS LEFT, ONLY BECAUSE AFTER YEARS OF DEDICATED SERVICE, PAID EMPLOYEES DIDN'T WANT THEM AROUND. MANAGEMENT (WHATEVER THAT IS AT THAT PLACE) LISTENED AND TOLD THEM TO GO. NOW, THE STORE IS FULL OF JUNK. FOR YEARS, ONE HAD THE CHANCE TO PURCHASE QUALITY ANTIQUES AND JEWELRY. NOW, THE JEWELRY ISN'T EVEN REACHING THE FLOOR. IT SEEMS THAT THEY HAVE REVERTED BACK TO THE OLD DAYS. PROCESSING ITEMS ISN'T EASY IF YOU'RE IGNORANT ABOUT VALUE AND NOW IT SEEMS THAT THE VALUABLE ITEMS ARE GOING OUT THE BACK DOOR, JUST LIKE IT DOES IN SO MANY OTHER LOW-END THRIFTS. THIS IS A DECENT CHARITY. SINCE EMPLOYEES WANT TO GET THEIR HANDS ON WHAT THEY THINK IS GOOD STUFF, AND SEND THE BULK OFF TO PUSHY DEALERS, DON'T THINK THIS WILL CONTINUE TO BE A PLACE WHERE YOU WILL FIND GOOD THINGS. NOT ONLY ARE EMPLOYEES RATHER IGNORANT ABOUT ANTIQUES AND FINE ITEMS, THEY CHOOSE THE VOLUNTEERS THAT THEY LIKE WHO THEY FIGURE CAN HELP THEM OUT. HOW FAIR MIGHT THAT BE? FORGET ABOUT IT! PEOPLE LOVE TO THRIFT THESE DAYS BUT THEY WON'T FIND ANYTHING OF REAL VALUE AT THIS PLACE. THE GOOD STUFF ISN'T GOING OUT ON THE FLOOR. IT'S ANOTHER FREE-FOR-ALL, PERHAPS, OR JUST INCOMPETENCE AT THE LOW AND HIGH END LEVEL OF MANAGEMENT. I STILL GO TO SEE IF ANYTHING IS THERE. USUALLY, THERE IS NO LONGER ANYTHING TO CONSIDER. IT'S A WASTE OF GAS (AS THE LOCATION IS OUT OF THE WAY). IT IS SO SAD SINCE THIS WAS ALWAYS CONSIDERED A WORTHY CHARITY FOR THIS TOWN. NOW, AN INEPT MANAGER IS LETTING THE INDIANS TAKE OVER THE DONATIONS COMING INTO THE STORE. I AM SURE THAT MANY OF THOSE GO INTO THE DUMPSTER, IN EMPLOYEE'S POCKETS, OR TO LOW-LIFE, LOW PAYING DEALERS. EASY ENOUGH, NO? DON'T WASTE YOUR DONTATIONS AND DON'T WASTE YOUR GAS (TO SHOP) UNTIL THIS IDIOCRACY GETS IT TOGETHER. INSTEAD, DONATE TO GATEWAY IN HOLLAND.
