S and R Event Rental

S&R Event Rental was the tent vendor for the Polar Plunge event series, benefiting Special Olympics Michigan. Their scheduling and set-up staff were prompt, professional, and friendly. Tonya took great care of orchestrating details, and the set-up/tear-down crews at all three of our local events were quick and efficient. They were very understanding of our fluctuating details and last-minute changes.

We have used S&R tent rental for an annual event for 15 years straight. This year they came out, set up the tent halfway and the crew told us the posts would not stay in the ground and recommended that we not erect the tent for the safety of our guests. The crew told us this has been happening a lot this year due to all the seasonal rain we have had. We of course listened to the pros and the half-erected tent that we pre-paid $1,715.00 for, was taken down. When we called a few days after our event was over about some sort of consideration or credit for the next year, the manager Tonya, refused and at first said the city made them take it down, which was not accurate as no official from Commerce Township was ever there. She then said that whoever was there on behalf of our company told the crew to take the tent down. When she was told that it was our companys owner who was there and he was simply listening to her crews professional recommendations, she quickly said we signed a contract, and that they are not responsible for weather related issues. When asked why we werent at least advised, before the rental, that all the seasons heavy rains were casing many tents to not be setup, she denied that was happening and that her crew would not have told our owner that information. We are shocked to hear that no consideration would be given to a loyal customer. S&R Tent Rental does not understand the value of a lifelong customer, like us, and we cannot recommend them anymore. Response to owner: Your answer to our review is not accurate (again) or satisfactory. You are either misinformed or lack integrity. You offered zero resolutions except not to put the tent up due to your staffs concern about safety, which of course we listened too. Other locations were checked by your staff, but they were also found to be unsafe. Your staff never offered any sort of waiver for us to sign. Why would they do such a thing under the unsafe circumstances they identified? Finally, we did ask the staff about any considerations on the bill, and they advised that we must take that up with the office, which we did. We never asked for a refund, all were hoping for was some consideration on next years bill. You had a great opportunity to salvage a disappointed, longtime customer, and you blew it. Hopefully others will read this review and steer clear of S&R Tent Rental.
