This visit was for a warranty repair on our 2024 XT4. The backup camera would not work when it was dark outside. This turned out to be a difficult diagnosis. There was apparently a tech bulletin that ascribed this to a radio software error. That sounds silly, but in this model the radio controls the display. It also meant I had to reprogram all radio function settings (radio/sound/display). Unfortunately this didnt fix the problem. On the 2nd visit, they reran the diagnostics and found a camera trouble code with a 2-step repair: first replace the camera, and if that doesnt work replace the video processing model. The camera was ordered and replaced, but the problem remained. The 3rd visit was after the video processing module was received. It was installed and the problem is solved. This was a PITA, but service advisor Jim did a great job of accommodating me by getting me scheduled quickly for return visits and arranging shuttle transportation and, one time, a rental car. Hats off to technician Jacob for sticking with this and finally resolving it. Apparently two conditions had to be present for the problem to occur: 1) very dark outside, and 2) the video processor had to be cold. This makes diagnosis extremely difficult! All in all, Al Serra Cadillac made the best of a bad situation by quickly scheduling ordered parts and quickly scheduling revisits.
