I searched for a surgeon to straighten my fingers curled by Dupuytrens Contracture. The best choice I could have made was Microvascular Hand Surgeon, Dr. Caroline Wurtzel, M.D. Sadly I could only give Dr. Wurtzel 5 and she should receive hundreds more. When initially meeting her it would be easy to think you were meeting a very compassionate nurse. Dr. Wurtzel is so easy to speak with and she listens to your questions and concerns. If you ask for her opinion on the best treatment for your condition, she will tell you. I was concerned to have open surgery to have the cords removed that were keeping my fingers curled. My procedure was about 2 1/2 hours and everything went fine. I was given a prescription for post-op pain medication and I didnt take any of it. My fingers are totally straight and normal in every way except for the incisions and stitches. I highly recommend Dr. Caroline Wurtzel if you should happen to need the help of a hand surgeon. My right hand needs the same surgical procedure and Dr. Wurtzel will definitely be the only call I make.

It's the simple things in life. While tucking a comforter in on my couch I caught a finger on the frame causing mallet finger. Dr.Wurtzel was thorough in her explanation of the injury and treatment options. Knowing my propensity for being reckless we decided to pin the finger. She did such a great job during the surgery that I don't even remember it. Doc has such a laid back persona that I was put at ease immediately. Her professionalism regarding my health care left no doubt that she knew her stuff. She will remain my hand surgeon from here on out. Trust me- I'll probably need her again. P.S. Dr Wurtzel treated me for a broken right wrist. From first visit to last, she spent time and explained everything in detail. She cares about her patients and it shows in the end result! Highly recommend!

Dr Wurtzel is great. She explains things so you can understand them. She did awesome surgery on my cubital tunnel release on both arms. I highly recommend her.
