This is a great museum and well worth the trip. You will get an excellent history of the area that goes beyond just the mining industry. There's a large free parking lot next to the building and the town is also worth strolling around when you're done here.

The building alone is worth visiting. Not to mention the staff was friendly with the cool historical little town as a backdrop. Go upstairs though, and any museum-goer will be delighted at the beautifully curated storytelling that takes you on a historical tour of Calumet and how it came to be. I couldn't get over how beautifully the museum was curated and put together, and how wonderfully it honored the integrity of the building, the artifacts, and the stories and lives of its former residents. You like history AT ALL, you will enjoy this museum and simply must stop for a look-see.
