(stayed there for a six month lease from feb. 2020 to july 2020)
I have quite a few mixed feelings about this place. the housing was great. i loved the experience in general. loved how open the kitchen and living room was and i liked the porch. my roommates where really awesome.
but the head office was another beast entirely. depending on who you're talking to the results vary drastically. i had to stay 10 days over my lease since the house I was moving into wasn't ready. tried contacting people about it and received a hard no. Even knowing id be homeless didn't seem to deter those people.
stayed over for the 10 days regardless and on the 1-2nd day over my lease I got an extremely condescending and rude email from someone at the office telling me that they were going to charge me 500$ every single day I stay over my lease. because they had turn over my apartment (which also wasnt true since I know nobody was moving into my unit that august)
this was actually terrifying before I was told that legally there's no way they can do that. called someone at head office and talked about how legally theres no way they can do that. Magically the issue worked itself out and I was able to stay the 10 days for free.
but seriously it was vey slimy and they did this to my roommate too. and it left me with the impression that they WILL try their hardest to screw over college kids who may not know what they legally can or cannot do. and that the organization in oakwoods systems is probably severely lacking to cause this massive miscommunication issue.
If you go here just be aware of your rights and try to protect yourself. overall the area is decent especially in the summer when its quieter.

I’ve lived at oakwood for almost a year and it’s a very close commute to campus. The staff is very friendly, George is super nice with my roommates and animals. Great experience overall!
