I had been a real estate agent for 25 years in another state. I moved to Michigan and closed on my house at Devon title.  I had a previous transaction fall through, which was closing at the same office.  Before closing on the 2nd transaction, I called and asked for my previous earnest money, but was told it would be credited on my next closing.  It wasn't, but in closing the title agent rudely assured me it has been worked into the fees.Two years have gone by.   I JUST received a letter from Devon Title informing me that they have been holding a earnest money check and because I have not claimed it they are going to take fees out of it prior to sending it back to me.My closing agent was dishonest and rude which is why I am leaving a 1 star review. I have closed approximately 1,000 transactions with title companies in my real estate career and have NEVER been lied to prior to dealing with Devon title.

Several months ago I contacted Debbie at the battle creek office.I retained Devon title to perform a title search on a property that I had a signed purchase agreement for.After a few weeks I followed up with her and she said I needed information and a survey. I quickly replied with all the necessary information and I didn't hear back from her for another 3-4 weeks, even though I left her multiple messages and texts. Now after 4 months,she still hasn't scheduled the closing nor returned my calls. I completely understand that COVID situation has created a difficult work environment,but actions of Debbie and Devon title are completely unacceptable. P Chambers
