Dr. Donald Wennersten, DDS

I have been to many dentists and this one by far is the best one of the bunch. The customer service and patient care was exceptional. Dr. Wennersten and the hygienists took the time to get to know me and explained my x-rays and dental situation with detail and patience. I was skeptical that there were not very many Google reviews, but rest assured you will be taken care of when you come to this practice. They even have a TV to provide relaxing visuals and sounds to help with some anxious feelings that come with being at the dentist. Looking forward to my next appointment!

Dr. Wennersten has been our familys dentist since we moved to Ann Arbor nearly 10 years ago. He is hands down the best dentist either my husband or I have ever had, and he has also been great with all of our kids. Everyone who works in his practice is professional and pleasant. The waiting area is nicely decorated and has the most charming books and toys. My kids like looking for Dr. DeSoto and reading the Shel Silverstein poem in the exam areas, and the staff even noted one of our sons favorite hygienists in his patient file. The dental care is always thorough, and we know we can trust them not to miss or neglect anything and also not to push us or our kids into unnecessary procedures. They have put in extremely thorough measures (ventilation, protective gear, etc.) to protect patients and staff through the pandemic, and I can honestly say I think we could safely receive dental care here through the apocalypse! Really cannot say enough good thing about this dental practice.

I've been going to Dr. Wennersten for over 25 years and would definitely recommend him. Although I now travel from quite a distance, I feel it's definitely worth the trip to see him because he's helpful, compassionate, and trustworthy.

The single best dentist I have EVER had in 20+ years of adult dentistry. Everything you want in a dentist: honest, smart, careful, friendly, conservative when it comes to drilling, and a very skilled craftsman when it comes to dental work.A bit of background. First, after moving to Ann Arbor, I came to Dr. Wennersten with a couple of serious, longstanding and hard to understand problems that resulted from some poor work done by a previous dentist. Basically, I had a bad crown that potentially caused a small fracture in the tooth somewhere when it was installed. It was one of those problems that was really hard to diagnose, and had no immediate and obvious solution. Second, my first dental experience on moving to Ann Arbor was with another dentist (a 5-star Yelp one no less) who immediately wanted to drill 11 fillings over 3 new sessions, and was generally dismissive of the problems I was having with my crown.I went to Dr. Wennersten for a second opinion, and he looked at the same x-rays and didn't see anything he didn't consider a "watch." (This had also usually been the opinion of my previous dentist before moving here.) In the time I've been going there, he has only drilled one of them, and that was one that I had known was a significant watch issue for many years. All of which is to say that Dr. Wennersten is NOT of the "Drill, baby, drill" school of dentistry.Fixing the problem with the crown and the painful tooth was one of those things that just took a lot of time and observation. Dr. Wennersten was always just very honest and up-front about exactly what he could and couldn't diagnose, and exactly what my options were. (The specialist he referred me to said basically the same thing.) It took time to work out, since much of the approach involved waiting and observing with a new temporary, but his approach was always honest, non-invasive, and never involved pointlessly aggressive proceeders or expenses.I also want to point out that he's really good at basic dental work like fillings and crowns. Getting these things right takes a certain level of experienced craftsmanship, and I've had really good and really bad dentists in this respect, and Dr. Wennersten might be the best I've had.  He just does outstanding work. He is also very friendly, very professional, and very "above board" with me. He's got a very calming demeanor that I really like too,  He's just everything I want in a dentist. I cannot recommend him highly enough.As a side note, he has a helpful and friendly staff as well. It's just a great practice.
