Im not sure what went wrong because of all the other good reviews but we had a horrible experience with our taxes last year, having multiple issues that needed to be corrected and them not filing our state taxes correctly, we eventually got a partial refund from them because they were late filing our state taxes resulting in a penalty. Would not return our phone calls for updates. Avoiding them like the plague this year.

Both my sister and I have consulted with Peter on income tax and estate tax questions that normally we would ask a tax attorney, but Peter knows his stuff so well and is able to answer all our questions - even questions we hadn't thought of - that we're happily able to skip the attorneys. Besides being a good solid person - trustworthy, understanding and very pleasant to deal with. Excellent all around.

I have used Peter Arnold four times for personal income tax returns. Year One: Excellent service, during the COVID year where I moved states, collected unemployment and a few other complications he got me more that his fee versus turbo tax. Year Two: They forgot about my return. I was tracking it and noticed it showed not submitted, so about eight weeks after I paid I called them and when I mentioned that it was kind of a rough slip up and I would get my money substantially later than expected I was basically hung up on. I think the person was more overwhelmed than rude but not ideal. I posted a review and they sent me a 75$ check, which in my mind more than squared things up and I adjusted my review accordingly. Year Three: Good service, no issues. Year Four: This year, I was debating not using an accountant because my return was pretty simple but I decided to stay the course. My federal return was fine, but according to their initial return I owed MA about 4,700 with penalties. I told them to file it but requested a call from Peter so I could sort it out for next year. Upon further review, I realized that he put down that I withheld zero dollars for the state, when in reality i withheld over 5k. Instead of owing 4700, my return was about 900$. I brought this up and it was fixed. It just seemed to me a pretty egregious error for a return with one W2, and if I have to scrutinize the return he sends me it really is not worth the 400$ fee. I left the review as three stars because they are really nice, and they generally fix their mistakes. I thought they would potentially apologize or something for this years error, but I was communicating with a few different people so maybe it slipped through the cracks. But in the end paying 300-400$ to have my returns done and having mistakes happen half the time is not worth it.
