Dr. Rizzo was my PCP in 2018. During my annual physical, I explained that I was sleeping about 12-16 hours a day and that I was having extreme trouble staying awake. I mentioned I've felt persistent sleepiness my whole life, but that my symptoms had worsened since 2016 to a point where it was interfering with my day-to-day. I provided a list of examples and went into significant depth about how I felt in each scenario. Dr. Rizzo was extremely dismissive of my concerns. She kept repeating that I'm just growing up and that this behavior was normal for an 18-year-old. I asked if I could have blood work done and she refused, saying that it was unnecessary. I asked if there was anything else I could do and she said "eat a healthy diet and exercise". The condescending manner with which Dr. Rizzo spoke to me made me feel stupid for even bringing up the topic. I thought I was fabricating my symptoms. The severity of my symptoms only worsened each year, but because of Dr. Rizzo's explanation and the stress of college, I assumed what I was experiencing was normal and that I was being lazy and incompetent. I am writing this review because I was diagnosed with a sleep disorder in 2022. I currently take medication to stay awake. I cannot describe the change in my quality of life after being on medication for a year. I feel so relieved knowing my symptoms are real. The doctors that I spoke with said they were astonished that tests weren't run in 2018 based on my initial symptoms. The way I was treated by Dr. Rizzo is a feeling I will never forget. From my initial appointment with Dr. Rizzo up to my diagnosis, my personal, family, and school life suffered because of my disorder. It's frustrating knowing that that I could have experienced a different timeline had Dr. Rizzo spared a little more concern for my health.

I would not recommend Dr.Rizzo. Her bedside manner leaves much to be desired. She is also unreasonably strict with providing referrals and apparently only refers to in network doctors. I developed a form on my toe so I called to get a referral for a podiatrist. She basically refused to refer me until I had an appointment with her first. The referral line staff told me most doctors have no issue referring for things like this. However, Dr. Rizzo said that she will not refer me unless I see her first (when a PCP obviously cannot help me with a corn on my foot.) I asked if I could do a video appointment so I didnt have to take a day off work just to jump through a hoop and she said no. I also went to see her for another issue before and she provided me with no information to help. I will be choosing another doctor.
