What a great experience we had using Awl Carpentry for the addition on our house. Right from our initial meeting with Jim Kenneway we felt comfortable and knew he was the contractor we wanted to work with. His prices were fair, the budget was broken out in great detail, and he stuck to it without any surprises. Our project consisted of a second story addition to a ranch house that created a brand new Master Bedroom Suite complete with walk in closet and bathroom. We also remodeled our existing bathroom, converted a closet to a laundry/mudroom, converted an old bedroom into an office, remodeled our existing family room, upgraded our electrical service and added central A/C, and replaced our siding and gutters. To top it all off we lived in the house while all this was going on and Jim and his team did a fantastic job working around us for all of that! Jim and Emily did a great job setting us up with professional vendors that stayed within our price range. All we had to do was go and pick out the fixtures or styles we wanted and they took it from there, having everything ordered and delivered. The subcontractors he used were very professional and everyone did a great job leaving the house as clean as possible since we were still living in it. We have 2 dogs and a cat and every single person who came to work at the house did great with our animals. The best part about the entire project is the quality of work that was done. Jim was extremely attentive to our requests and anytime we needed to pivot or add something in last minute, he worked with us, and made sure the end product was professional and high quality. I would recommend Jim and Awl Carpentry for any home improvement project no matter the size or scope.

Jim, Emily, and the entire AWL team could not have been nicer. The communication was excellent, we always knew where everything stood and the timing was as promised. When the work was finished you would have no idea that there were contractors in our house, they did an amazing job with clean-up at every phase. If you are looking for someone that will work with you on details, keep you informed every step of the way, and have extremely high quality work...then Jim and his team are who you are looking for.
