Massachusetts Registry of Motor Vehicles

I had an affidavit to cancel my deceased father-in-law's veterans plates. I was greeted by a very pleasant security officer, asking if I had an appt. I told him no and he directed me to customer service. It was around 3pm the day before July 4th. I waited less than a minute. The nice lady took my affidavit and driver's license, looked up something on her computer, scanned my form and driver's license. Then gave me a receipt. I was all done and I didn't have to wait in the main area at all!!

They do not accept tax documentation as stated on their website. It's nearly impossible to find the information you need and book an appointment. Call them and make sure they actually accept the documentation listed on the website once you have an appointment. I drove over an hour for an appointment I waited months for and they had changed their policy with no warning.

Your typical rmv experience, but it is quicker with the appointment system. The lady I had was super nice, I can't say the same for the guy at the next station over who was being extremely rude to his coustomer

They have definitely earned their reputation for being inefficient and inept. I tried to schedule an appointment online only to get message at the end that I could not proceed and gave a reason using terminology that couldn't possibly be understood by a non RMV employee. I had no choice but to go as a "walk-in" and wait over an hour because appts. are taken 1st, walk-ins when they can and was told I had outstanding warrant and was given the warrant # and told I had to go to town Hall to clear it. Went to town Hall only to be told that it belonged to someone else for a drug related crime and the RMV had placed it on my record in error. Then back to RMV and told the check in that I had been there and earlier and they had made an error but still was made to wait over an hour for a second time as a "walk-in" to see someone to have their error corrected. Total time spent: 4h 45m. DISGUSTING!!!!!
