Being retired Air Force, each year I love to book a week at Forth Cliff military recreation site in Humarock. This year though I was blessed with what was supposed to be a tropical storm brushing the coast with high winds , rain and heavy surf. I live in CT and my vacation started the day prior to the storm making landfall. Because of the storm, I decided to take what I refer to as my beater car (99 Jeep grand Cherokee) . The body has seen better days but runs like a beast. Should the sands blow or debris strike it, I would not cry as much as if it were my primary car. On the way up to MA, it was nice and sunny but not to hot, so I rolled my drivers window down. Somewhere just over the border from Rhode Island, my dash alerted me my drivers door was open. I pulled off at a rest area to check my door but the alert would not go off after opening and closing a few times. I got back into my car and just for safety hit the auto locks and they would not work. I then tried to roll up window and that also didnt work. So here I am with a tropical storm about to hit and I have a window stuck in the down position. I could have grabbed plastic and taped my window for the time being but with the storm the winds would surely make quick work of that. I got to B&B and they were jumpin, the mechs were all busy plenty of cars all over. When I talked to the mechanic and told him my story , he dropped what he was doing to check for what we hoped was the simple fix of a wire that runs through the hinge area of the door. Thankfully it was and he spliced it back together. It may have only taken 30 min, but that probably put him even further behind. I am so grateful to these guys for their above and beyond effort. If for whatever reason you are near, try these great mechanics out. The price to fix was also very fair. Thanks for saving my vacation guys !
