Really cool place but the service was awful and the food was not great. Hopefully they can get it together before the busy season but I will not be returning.

I was really excited when I found out a new Italian restaurant opened up in Gloucester and booked a private room for my post wedding celebration with 24 other people. Unfortunately it was a bad experience from planning to the day of the event. They seemed understaffed and one of the people at the front desk told my mom "I didn't sign up for this." At the end of the night I was given the bill to sign. It was higher than anticipated, but I gave a 20% tip on my credit card and some of the guests gave cash tips on top of that. It was dark and difficult to see so I took a photo of the receipt to look at it more closely the next day. That is when I noticed that a 20% gratuity had been added on top of my tip...making the whole tip almost 50%. So I contacted the event coordinator and explained what happened and asked for the additional auto-gratuity to be removed. A week later I got a call from the restaurant manager who was clearly angry and told me that now he has to chase down each individual server to get the money back from them. It was completely unprofessional and ridiculous. A good manager would have asked me if I intended to tip nearly 50%. Included gratuity for a bill that large should be CLEARLY communicated, not snuck into fine print of a contract or never verbally communicated. The fact that the manager called to say he has to chase his staff and ask them for money to make up for this discrepancy shows a lot about the integrity of this establishment. I will never support this business again.
