Sichuan Gourmet

Have been going to Szechuan places for decades. Decided to stop in here for lunch when visiting the daughter. Nice atmosphere and very good service. However the experience stops there. I ordered the spicy Szechuan dumplings (a dish I used to get at my fav place in NJ). They were made just as expected with sesame seeds and no peanuts. Nice and spicy with delicate skins but alas no real flavor. Moved on to shredded chicken with Yu Xiang sauce. Again- good quality and very nice spice profile (made my lips sting). But no underlying flavors. Like they are sauting the food with chilis and oil but nothing else. Will not come back.

My favorite Sichuanese restaurant ever. I highly recommend the Stir Fried Cauliflower, Gangou Dry Fish Filets, Smokey Chicken Cayenne, Fish Filets with Napa Cabbage and Spicy Sauce, Steamed Bacon with Fresh Garlic Spicy Sauce, to name a few. Excellent quality and authenticity. Service is fast and helpful when asking for recommendations; they are unfazed by big groups. We did takeout through the pandemic and were happy to be back in the restaurant when they reopened.

A complete disappointment! Paid over $70 dollars for two main dishes. It was so salty and oily we don't even want to finish. Not recommended!
