Recommended to us by our mortgage company. We filed our first claim when a tree fell on our house, and the insurance provider dropped us when our policy expired. Whatever. That happens a lot, and it's not the broker's fault. Unfortunately, Finck and Perras made worse a situation we trusted them to fix. Our broker at Finck and Perras barely did any research on new plans, only finding us ONE policy with a $5,000 deductible (5x higher than our previous plan). When we asked for more options, we were told (falsely) that no other providers would take us, and that the only other option available to us was the Massachusetts FAIR plan, which came with a premium 3x higher than our previous plan. We were coerced by the broker into signing up for the FAIR plan, under the assurances that we would not find a better private policy. I later found out from talking to a client who works in insurance that this was not the case. I reached out to another broker and they found me a much better plan through Plymouth Rock in a matter of minutes. It was at this point that a souring reality dawned on me -- our broker with Finck and Perras likely did less than 15 minutes of actual work looking for new policies. We are sitting here wondering why we placed our trust in a brokerage firm that tricked us into signing legal documentation attesting that there were no other options than the FAIR plan, when that was not the case at all! Even more baffling is how a LICENSED BROKER signed the same documentation (perjury?)!! When you hire an insurance broker, you do so with the expectation that they are more knowledgeable, and will find you a better policy than you could find on your own. Please do not make the mistake of applying that expectation to the people at Finck and Perras! UPDATE: The president of the company reached out to us after seeing this review -- while not actually taking accountability for our bad experience, she did make a point to mention that our broker was "no longer with the company". This was an even worse look for them, as we were never contacted by our new account manager to let us know that our previous broker had left the company and that she would be taking over. It also lends credence to my theory that our broker was mailing it in, given that she was obviously on her way out the door while working on our policy. Furthermore, they did such a poor job on-boarding the replacement, that we spent weeks emailing the previous broker and receiving no response. They didn't even set up a simple email forwarding system for the new broker! YIKES!
