I am very pleased with the dental work that Dr Nevins performed for me. He is a highly skilled dentist and performs using the latest techniques, he is very professional and very caring - his skill is amazing - he performs at the highest level. I am very happy with the results. Yes it is expensive but I felt very comfortable in Dr Nevin's hands and I would not want to go through the procedure with a less skilled dentist and then perhaps have to go back and fix it later. Dr Mitchell, another dentist in the practice, is also extremely skilled and they make a great team as they consulted with each other on the path forward for my dental treatment. The dental assistants are also very caring and made sure that I was comfortable at all times. The office staff is very pleasant and friendly,. I highly recommend Dr Nevins and his practice.

Nevins Dental Center is fantastic! I needed several procedures and spent a long time researching periodontists. I'm so glad I chose Nevins Dental! The details: 1. Dr. Marc Nevins performed a soft tissue grafting procedure on both sides of my mouth, using micro-surgical techniques, with Veronica Moran assisting. The surgical process and outcome were simply superlative. I was comfortable the whole time. This intricate procedure was so beautifully organized, they were able to complete it in just a few hours. (I really marveled at this later.) Recovery was easy and pain-free. I didn't have to take pain medication, including over-the-counter. This procedure is invaluable for my oral health and will help keep my gums and teeth healthy. 2. Two of my central incisors were very small and one was "dead" from a past injury. I needed to get them crowned to stabilize them. Dr. Julie Mitchell performed this procedure, with Salma Melendez assisting to remove them and create temporary crowns, and Natalia Medina assisting to implant the permanent crowns. Each procedure was smooth and easy. Even the temporary crowns fit beautifully. The permanent crowns look amazing, indistinguishable from real teeth! (Though idealized to make my smile look great.) They even made me a new retainer for free! 3. I had a deep cleaning for the first time, with Patty Valin. Patty explained everything beautifully and helped me develop a good oral healthcare routine. The deep cleaning was easy and didn't feel like a medical procedure. She kindly let me skip the Novocaine and it still felt like a regular cleaning. Patty is a fantastic clinician, who I continue to see for regular cleanings. The best! 4. Some people have questions about cost. Nevins Center requests payment on the day of each visit, a common practice. They then submit a claim to your insurance. If they recommend a procedure, they create a treatment plan that indicates the costs. There are no surprises and they don't rush you. (They would tell you if the matter is time-sensitive, but they don't create a false sense of urgency.) You never feel like a choice-point was skipped over. With this very adequate notice and accurate cost indication, there is time for financial planning. As a former case manager in Boston-area homeless shelters, I frequently made medical and dental referrals and evaluated costs. Nevins Center's treatment planning strikes me as excellent and clear. The treatment schedule and rationale has no irregularities or unexpected costs. Their costs for procedures (implants, crowns, surgery, etc.) seem within a standard range. For routine care: If you're used to reduced-rate community health centers, Nevins Center might cost a bit more, as the care is very comprehensive. This is a hard point to make without appearing to suggest that lower-cost centers don't provide excellent care. They do, especially in Boston! But this isn't an apples-to-apples comparison. Routine cleanings at Nevins Center provide a clinical level of care that can be experienced as especially helpful. For me, it's a great investment.

Dr Nevins is true to his websites mission statement - He strongly believes that modern treatment approaches based on the latest advances in biotechnology and clinical science are the gateway to providing the best patient care. After a root canal and crown elsewhere in 2017, I experienced increasing numbness in one side of my lower jaw, which led to a cascade of diagnostic attempts and numerous visits to various dental practicioners and neurosurgeons. Dr Nevins was the first to recommend laser treatment to restore nerve function, and I have improvement already from the first treatment. This is a huge quality-of-life issue for me. I had radiation for Head & Neck cancer back in 2000. One consequence can be a softening of the jawbone and difficulty with implants. Dr Nevins website deals with the issue, offering a possible treatment with growth hormone at the time of the implant surgery - thats how I found his office. Another really positive thing about my experience with his practice is that they prescribe medication in advance of the appointment. (My recent experience includes a doctor who refused to prescribe pain medication post implant surgery.) It always seemed to me, given the occasional pain and unpleasantness of oral surgery, that it would make sense to be medicated prior to an appointment in addition to local anaesthetic. I want to applaud Dr Nevins for doing just that, having a compassionate, sensible approach to pain management and antibiotics.

I'd avoid this place. They treated my insurance like an optional thing that might help me, possibly, maybe. As opposed to what it is, which is how they get paid. Then they insisted on some sort of special CT scan, naturally not covered by insurance. Then tried to book me right away for a wisdom tooth extraction, that most other oral surgeons I've consulted have said is too risky to touch. Felt more like a used car salesman working a hot lead than a doctor advising me of health issues. Lobby is sleek, h-bomb diploma prominently displayed behind the receptionist (where you have to see it), and art is tasteful. I guess that could be impressive. Less impressive is the mouth infection that I seem to have picked up from the exam. I'm healthy and not prone to these things, so I guess that was one thing that this visit changed for me.

Dental Imaging such as CBCT can reveal diagnoses and guide treatments safely. Unfortunately, dental insurance does not cover much beneficial newer technology. Often there can be risks with third molars such as infection that are not painful and important to intercept before they cause greater health issues. We hope you find the practice that is more suited to your needs. Dr Nevins
