image They are the worst facility Ive ever been to they lie they give you one appointment a week. If theyre actually there theyre never there theyre completely unreliable. They show up late to appointments. It literally is the worst waste of money you ever spend and the guy who runs the houses a narcissist, everyone I was there with complains about how horrible the places its literally steals your money away. You could buy so much things . The first month they didnt even have a chef they lied. I was eating grilled cheese that I helped them made. You share a bathroom with like two people they dont fix any problems they make problems worse they leave you at hospitals they dont answer calls they actually made me have drama dont go there. Literally Im telling you, they caused my life harm and drama the worst place youll ever go

image Ellenhorn is a one of its kind treatment facility for anyone who is struggling with mental health concerns to receive daily treatment all while additionally being in the community of greater Boston. Even though the therapy itself is pricey, the outcome of independence is completely worth it. Residents live in one of their two locations Brackett House or the Annex which is a step-down from supportive living. Each client receives a developed treatment plan based upon which tier they signed up for or what they can afford but believe me it is worth every penny! The clinicians are very flexible to meet clients where they are at emotionally all while still allowing them to be part of the community. I strongly recommend Ellenhorn to anybody who is looking or needing a supportive living environment while still being able to achieve independence.

What isnt there to say at this point in time. Psychiatric care we are led to believe is solely for the benefit of the patient. But at Ellenhorn the money is the primary objective of this institution. The patient is secondary to the monetary needs of the clinic and any concern by the patient or the parent regarding the methods of their treatment is treated with a condescending lecture and met with stiff indifference.
Apparently prescribing 7 different Psychiatric medicines to a diagnosed Bipolar patient is no cause for concern at the people at Ellenhorn. The psychiatrists spend an unbelievable amount of effort chasing symptoms rather then getting to the actual nature of the mental illness. Prescribing 3 anti depressants to a patient with Major Depressive disorder. Prozac, Nardil, Zoloft is unprofessional. The polypharmaceutical practices are only a worsening drug dependency and is failing to treat a patient professionally. Ellenhorn is defensive in how they treat a patient. Any concern is met with indifference and a coercive lecture about how without complying with Ellenhorns Step By Step methods the patient will be unable to recover or improve. Ellenhorns strict and rigid practices are inflexible and they seem all too happy to charge 8,000 a month for Psychiatric care without actually communicating effectively enough.
Ellenhorn seems to operate like so
1: Keeping the patient dependent on Ellenhorn by keeping the patient a zombie so as to be more compliant
2: discourage and devalue the patients concerns about their treatment
3: Milking the patients beneficiary or parent by prolonging the care without providing anything other than more prescription medicine or monitored supervision.
4: dependency is crucial. A patients concern or unwillingness to continue taking 7 psychiatric medicines is met with an ultimatum of termination of the prescribed medicines the patient is already dependent on.
5: unwillingness to address or empathize with who they are treating
6: Robotic indifference to the trauma and concern (again) of a patient because they arent in line with Ellenhorns Step By Step process. The trauma may only be treated once the patient is able to live on their own.
7: treating symptoms and side effects through polypharmacy
8:keeping the status quo. Discouraging the patient from tapering off and continuing with unprogressive therapy until Ellenhorn decides it is necessary to move on. This can go on for years...
9: Absolute compliance is necessary despite any concern others may have. Compliance and cooperation supersede the patients overall basic needs and questions.
The people at Ellenhorn are mostly privileged staff workers who are inadequately trained to handle patients with real psychiatric issues. There are coercive techniques being used infrequently but only when the simplist of questions are met by being stone walled. The coercive part about it is when a parent wishes to either end psychiatric care with Ellenhorn or if the patient is uncomfortable with the current treatment with the psychiatrist Ellenhorn assures you that by choosing to leave it will only complicate and worsen the patient.
The self righteousness and condescending nature of the psychiatrists and staff isnt a way to build trust. Whether it is malpractice or poor practice going on at Ellenhorn I am not entirely sure, but it is probably the latter. They never seemed to be interested as to whether or not prescribing 7 psychiatric medicines to one person was unprofessional or at the very least questionable.
The amount of money spent is clearly not productive enough or beneficial to the patients because the psychiatrists and therapists are too rigid and strict in their methods to try a different approach with a patient.
Ellenhorn is content with Milking their clients who have money by prolonging and ineffectively treating a person who is in need.
The needs of a patient are less important than the drugs a patient is uncomfortable in taking and less important than a patient feeling trapped and controlled.
