Trails need better signage. Also disappointing how little mtb trails there were.

Great trail with no stop elevation gain but well worth the reward overlooking the valley below Restrooms: At the summit house

There are MANY trails that you can follow from this trailhead. All are in good or great condition. Well maintained and there are signs and/or topo maps at some trail junctions. I would have rated this a 5 star except the trails could really use blazes, and the trail maps need to include names of more of the minor trails. It was difficult to identify your location on the map because the names of locations on the signs were often not named on the map. (Hard to cross reference). Otherwise it was a great hike and I enjoyed learning the history of the Thunderbolt trail. Views were nice with the leaves off the trees. The tower at the summit is impressive, but was not open when we were there. It is open 8:30 to 4, weather permitting. Would also have liked to go into the lodge, but that too was closed. You can do this as an out and back or you can explore some of the side trails. Contour map skills and general route-finding skills are needed if you decide to explore the other routes. Restrooms: Port-a-potty at the trailhead was very clean, large, and well stocked.
