I was staying here through Airbnb. Long story short, my last night there the police showed up and found a hidden camera in my room. I was there almost a week! They were tipped off by another guest in the house. Airbnb refunded my stay but would not let me review host. I asked host for a clarification, he didnt respond. Police investigating the matter now. I hope he goes to jail for breech of trust and violation of privacy.

Beautiful colonial style home located in an upscale neighborhood close to downtown Silver Spring, MD. I stayed there just 1 night to see a concert at The Filmore which is in walking distance of this house. Room was beautiful with nice furniture, desk, and comfortable bed. I just stayed 1 night and was able to get a room here within an hour because I was too tired to drive back to Baltimore after visiting my sister in DC. It is a really nice house that is updated and has keyless entry. I really like the screened-in porch and back patio area. Owner was very friendly and helpful. Original post: The homeowner was dishonest. He told me that he would waive the the charges if I cancelled the reservation but didn't do so. This resulted in a large credit card charge for several days that I did not use. It is a small room in a house. I went up to see it and the room next to what was supposed to be mine has a person in it who was speaking loudly, apparently on the phone. The home owner basically told me that I should expect to hear him even if I close my door. This room is not suitable to do any kind of work or rest for that matter. I also tried to call him and email him several times after I discovered that he didn't waive the charges but he wouldn't answer. I even went to his house again and he wouldn't open the door. The home owner should not be able to operate his scam. The home owner's house has security lights and cameras around his house understandably to prevent any wrongdoing from people the owner scams. ....... In response to your response. You said that you were going to waive the cancellation fee, and you didn't. Booking.com told me that you refused to return my money. You are trying to blame someone else for your wrongdoing and dishonesty. Additionally, your post contained inaccuracies. You typed, "I told you that booking.com would probably assess at least one night's penalty for not giving any notice because you are not allowing a business to mitigate its losses." This is the first time I hear of this. In any case, you undeservedly took 80% of about $530 for no service provided. You typed, "Had you followed booking.com's policy and provided the required notice, you would have received 100% of your money back." Don't try to blame me for for this scam. Again you undeservedly took money after promising you would waive the cancellation fee. You talked a great deal about the cancellation policy but you ignored to talk about your part in it. Again, Booking.com told me you refused to waive the cancellation fees. Additionally, you will not do anything to return that money. And again, you promised to waive the cancellation fees and you didn't, that's why and how I cancelled. And that's how and why I lost my money.

I would give it zero star if I could. Stay was for 10/23-10/25/21 I dont know where to start, its a house with strict rules and cameras everywhere. There was a guy actively cleaning when we got there. We informed him to remove the strong scent from the rooms as my cousin has allergies. Which he said you remind me of my grandmother but took them out as requested. Within 30 minutes of being there we opened window to try and get air but she went into a full blown asthma attack as we speak she is the ER. We requested for refund due to health issues and was informed by booking that the home owner was not picking up the phone. Next day we were informed through email that there would be no refund. Secondly, this residence is not for adults, it has tiny rooms and rules and cameras everywhere. First floor office area very dusty and cluttered. I felt like a teenager. I am 40 years old with 2 kids was looking for a get away for my mental health instead me and this property crossed path. For example, I dont think its appropriate to dictate how many towels a guest should use a day. Or have quiet time, it needs to be listed on booking.com so if someone wants to go back to live with strict parents then they can pick this property. Another rule was we have to remove make up prior to bed. I feel like we are too grown to put ourselves in a place that doesnt feel homey/safe/constant being monitored. Not to mention there is a $300 deposit per room. We had 2 rooms so their was $600 on hold plus the accommodation fee that the home owner refused to refund. In conclusion, my advise is stay away if you have allergies or stay at your own risk.
