I saw Dr. Norah Neile for several years in the late 2000s and early 2010s; she was only my second psychologist. I interviewed many psychologists before I found Dr. Neile. In our first interview it was clear that she was professional, objective, and well-versed in several techniques for treatment of trauma and PTSD. I had just been diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis and two other serious autoimmune diseases, so that was one priority. The other priority was a seriously dysfunctional childhood and young adulthood. Dr. Neale is understanding, kind, open to new problems, and works to understand the patient's perspective on their family, themselves, their diseases. She uses a variety of techniques to treat the patient, some of them quite surprising.
She helped me enormously during a period of great duress in my life and I cannot recommend her highly enough. Dr. Neile, of course, treats general psychology patients. I had many medical specialists at Johns Hopkins-Baltimore and an excellent DC hospital, and they were impressed with the progress I made with Dr. Neile.
My parents recently passed on: my father, who fought on the front lines of WWII, in late 2019; and recently my mother who lived until almost the age of 100. I thought of Dr. Neale and how much she helped me understand coping mechanisms to deal with difficult situations, and how to better practice unconditional forgiveness and love--my choices--and practice them to the end. I would have not been able to deal with my parents' loss as well as I have without Dr. Neale. In other words, how she educates the patient continues "teaching" into the future.
