Dr Kim is *extremely knowledgeable , charismatic and hardworking. He told me he works 80hr weeks. He took me in as a walk in & personally answered the phone, ran some x-rays and adjusted my neck - 5/5 would highly recommend. Dr Kim is also studying full time at John Hopkins and aspires to help many through his medical degree. He was able to thoroughly explain my x-rays and other non related medical issues.

TLDR: in my limited experience, Dr Kim is experienced and effective. I felt initial relief from my symptoms, but his communication style/approach did not work for me, and I felt the billing and ethics are a bit sketchy. Sharing this review because I often rely on others ratings and appreciate them. The long version: I saw Dr Kim for back and neck pain after a car accident on recommendation by my lawyer. I was initially surprised at his contacting me and insistence that I see him the same day. His office is conveniently located on Rockville Pike. The check in process was a little chaotic but fine and the people who greeted me were friendly and kind. Dr. Kim then greeted me and said I never returned his texts or calls. I obviously did, or I would not have been sitting there. I had never been to a chiropractor, so I wasnt sure what to expect. I did feel sort of unsure what was happening the whole time. I was brought to the room to put on a open back short gown and had electric stimulation, a ton of X-rays, ultrasound treatment, and some time on an automatic massage tablewith the other office staff who were very warm and friendly. I saw Dr Kim and he talked to me briefly about my symptoms. He also said I waited too long to seek treatment, implying it was problematic for insurance. I had waited for about a week after the accident to first seek any medical care, because I hoped Id feel better and knew a bunch of what I had been experiencing was just bruising and shock. I had been to my physicians office and was waiting for a PT appointment. My memory of my conversation with Dr Kim was that he repeated several times that I should have come sooner and I should be running, because he works 80 hours a week and does triathlons. Im an obese woman over 45 who, though previously much more active than in the last few years, has never voluntarily run in my life and have back issues. It seems pretty ill-conceived timing for me to try to pick up running or triathlon training. He showed me my X-rays which were not surprising to me, because I knew I had partially degenerated discs. I always find it interesting to see my own bones, but I was not sure what message he was trying to convey, what I was supposed to do about it, or what the treatment protocol was by him just pointing to the issues over and over. He followed the X-ray explanations with some manual adjustments to my back before we wrapped up. The appointment took about 1 1/2-2 hours. I made another appointment as I was leaving, and Dr. Kim said not to do any strenuous exercise or lifting. (So I guess no triathlon training yet?) He also told me not to tell the insurance company I had had an MRI and asked if I paid cash. He seemed really disappointed when I said I had used my health insurance for that. This gave me scam vibes. I was not trying to hide anything or imply anything that was not true about my injuries, so it was just weird. When I left, I felt really odddifficult to describe, but on reflection, realized it was because of that comment and also because I felt as if I did not know what was being done or why and had no idea what the plan was going forward. In hindsight, I obviously should have asked, but my point is its not set up like that. In my past experience with doctors or PT, theres an assessmentphysical and through questions, followed by a discussion and explanation of treatment approach and reasoning, and some indication of how we will reassess my condition. There was none of that, so I decided the practice wasnt for me. I ended up going to another chiropractor whose approach was more in line with my expectations. I did not see a bill initially as it went straight to my attorney. However, when I received the final accounting, the amount he charged was shocking. It was over a third of the cost of the total cost of the other chiropractor. In other words, one visit cost the same as 1/3 of all of the visits I had for about 2x/week for several months. I did not question it, because by that time, I was just relieved the entire ordeal was over.
