Swanendele Inn at St. Mary's, Maryland

My husband and I wanted a quick getaway from our busy lives and Swanendele Inn was perfect. Our room was cozy, with a great view of the water. The property grounds have a natural beauty and are so serene. The Inn is thoughtfully and beautifully decorated, inclusive of multicultural pieces from many countries. The staff was very hospitable, and Dutch was a great host.. We would absolutely recommended a visit. Rooms: Our room was cozy with beautiful water views. The fireplace was nice and the bathroom was spacious.

We had a wonderful weekend trip at the Swanendele Inn! We stayed in the Margaret Brent Suite. It was fantastic, perfect for a romantic getaway. Gerald was a great host with lots of interesting stories to tell. The decor was amazing -- and it was from all over the world! Breakfast was also very tasty. We will be coming back in the summer. A truly great find, don't hesitate to book!!

We spent only a single night here, but our experience was excellent. The entire place is beautiful and the view along the water is amazing. We spent the late evening out on the pier star gazing and watching the water. There are kayaks and canoes if you want, there's a fire pit and plenty of chairs for reading and relaxing by the water. Our room was excellent, but the most engaging part of the visit was the time spent in conversation with the owner--he has lived an amazing life and I can't encourage you enough to engage him and listen to his stories--he and his family have lived history! Breakfast was good and the service friendly. We definitely plan on returning for a stay where we can spend more time. Nearby activities: St. Mary's county is full of history. We highly recommend a visit to St. Mary's City, the first settlement in Maryland. Also, the parks, such as Point Lookout offer great views and activities. Also, there are many excellent restaurants in the area.
