I moved in a month ago. The roof to my apartment building is poor and allows for birds to freely enter and exit my home. For a month, maintenance and contractors have been lax in addressing this issue. They finally patched the hole and clearly did not assess the area prior to patching the hole. There are now baby birds stuck in the wall of my home that chirp day and night looking for their parents. The leasing told me the most immediate response to this issue would be to allow me to break my lease.. after I just moved in. 0/10 would recommend.

NO LONGER A RESIDENT HERE - And Let Me Tell You Why! The apartments themselves are decent. I loved the space and the amenities they provided. I also loved how accessible the area was to shopping and to the beltway. BUT.. I had to go! They had a huge rodent problem. Prior to me leaving they finally got it under control (at least in my unit) but at one point it was so bad I had to store almost all of my pantry food in totes because they would eat thru the bags or boxes. The rodents were so bold they would just come out no matter what time of day it was. The complex is not exactly ADA accessible. So if you have bad knees or are in a wheelchair, you can only rent ground floor units and you can only enter your home through the patio since every building has steps; some more than others. It was always a nightmare grocery shopping. Parking also got on my nerves because people NEVER move their cars, a lot of trucks and vans I think just dump their work vehicles there and the parking spaces are so tight that you will certainly end up with door dents. The complex tries to "scare" you when you sign your lease about how they will tow your car if you don't move it, but I NEVER saw anyone get towed ever and some people had their cars parked for weeks with flat tires and all. They also DO NOT clean the buildings (maybe once a month) and I got tired of cleaning up after grown folks because I wanted the place I live & pay money for to look & smell decent. The surprise pricing pushed me close to the edge when my quoted rent rose by $200 after they included their "fees" like a separate gas bill, and water bill. But what pushed me OVER the edge about this place was THE PEOPLE! The people they allow to rent these units need to be investigated and possibly shipped to a facility. How would anyone think its ok to blast thumping music at 1AM on a Monday night for hours? How could anyone think it's a good idea to allow their dogs to poop on the building steps or even worse inside the actual building and not clean it up?! How could anyone with a brain think its ok to just steal peoples mail or packages THEN return it OPENED?? Also, since weed became legal, why do people think it's a grand idea to smoke any & everywhere but absolutely refuse to smoke inside their homes but will then turn around and smoke inside the apartment building and as a result have your home smelling like a dispensary. I couldn't take it anymore with those folks so I had to go. Ya'll got it! The complex won't do anything about it but just send a blast email to everyone & threaten them with a fine. When I first moved there it was NOT like that; I had decent neighbors, but I saw the shift once a few of the people in my building moved and when it got to the point where I actually hated coming home I knew I had to go.

There are no cameras so if anything happens to your car in the parking lot, too bad. With all the theft youd think they would put up cameras for the betterment of the community. We already have have to pay to reserve a parking spot closer to your building to watch our cars. Instead Carriage Hill Apartments is enabling its bored teenagers to break in and enter whatever the hell they want. They wont tell you, but if you have a Hyundai or Kia you could VERY LIKELY get robbed or have your car stolen!!!!! Just ghetto and raggedy. We need our cars to pay our rent !!!! DONT MOVE HERE IF YOU WORK HARD AND DONT WANT YOUR THINGS STOLEN WITHOUT A TRACE.
