What a great idea...fence off the fossils so that the public can only go on site with an appointment. We were able to walk down one side of the park via a sidewalk adjacent to the park's fence line.

I was SO excited to take my Dino-loving 5 yr old here but sadly it was a really disappointing experience. The website says open dawn to dusk but that is just referring to the play area outside the actual park. Definitely check further to determine park opening hours, which was noon today. This experience is a huge draw for kids but they should set an age requirement and indicate its not really for younger kids. Once inside you are NOT allowed to dig or even brush your hand across the loose dirt to look for fossils. If you do you will be asked to leave. My son was so excited and the park staff said not to dig so he was brushing his hand across the ground, one of the staff came up and told him if you do that again you will have to leave. The staff members tone was aggressive and it made my son cry. I totally get that they are being put in a difficult spot having to enforce this rule and I absolutely dont want to do anything to disrupt a historical site but expecting kids to only look at the ground is not realistic. Just a heads up for other parents so they can plan accordingly and determine if this type of experience is a good fit for their kid.
