There are not enough superlatives in the English language to properly give this amazing surgeon the accolades he deserves. After suffering a brutal open compound fracture of the ankle and being literally butchered by the trauma surgeons at Suburban Hospital I was left with broken hardware and a completely deformed unstable ankle. Unable to walk. I mean the X-rays showed my ankle sliding off my foot! When I went to see Lew Schon and his team at Hopkins in Baltimore (Schon invented the hardware used in ankle replacement and his team is considered the best in the country) - they said my ankle was so badly deformed that I was not a candidate for replacement and it would take an amazing surgeon and a heroic effort to straighten it out. Well - Mizou is that guy. And not only is he a technical wizard - hes an incredibly empathetic and down-to-earth person. He took his time explaining everything to me, all the possible contingencies and answered all my questions. And after 7 months of butchery I had weeks of questions - I was beyond apprehensive to go thru all this madness again - and had no confidence in the current state of surgical care I had received. He patiently and calmly addressed all my concerns and evinced a truly compassionate nature with regard to the nightmare I had been thru. He made space for all the contingencies - and was willing to modify his surgical plan of attack as long as it was still a reasonable approach in his professional opinion to mollify me. In the end I just shut up and let him make all the decisions - and that was the best call ever. When youre going thru something like this you have to fully trust your surgeon. He instilled that trust, did a brilliant job with the surgery and is continuing to provide first rate follow-up care. Checks in with me everyday. This guy is a healer in every sense of the word. I am so lucky to have found him. If you need any kind of foot and ankle surgery and you dont go to him youre doing yourself a grave disservice. Dr. Mizou is a rock star surgeon.

Dr. Mizuo was super helpful and very kind. I had an ongoing toenail issue and it needed to be removed, and instead of having me come back another time, he was able to do the procedure that same day/visit, which I really appreciated. He did a good job of explaining the process to me ahead of time and sent me home with detailed instructions. For the procedure itself, he was very gentle and careful in numbing my toe, and was patient to make sure the medication was fully working before starting, and he continued to check if I was OK/not feeling pain throughout. Overall a very positive experience and I will definitely return to see him if/when I have future foot/toe issues!
