It is a nice hotel on the "boardwalk" around The Rio, in Gaithersburg. There is a wide selection of restaurants, movie theater, and boutique shops that are in walking distance.
The staff are friendly, rooms are quiet. There is a restaurant in the hotel.
Rooms: The rooms I've stayed in are nice. (Double queen and King). Decor and furnishings are what you would expect from a Marriott.
Nearby activities: The Rio has many restaurants (chain and local), boutiques, a carousel, and a movie theater. All acessible by the nice walking path around the lake. Right off of I-270 and easy access to I-370 and the Washington DC Metro, Red Line at Shady Grove, 10 minutes away.
Walkability: There is parking on site. With the walking path around the lake, you can easily walk to the restaurants and movie theater within 5 minutes.

I was visiting Maryland for business related work and stayed at this property. Staff here was very friendly and helpful. My room was on the 10th floor, concierge level and had good view of the lake and Rio.
Food at the lounge was very decent and had a good spread of veggies.
My stay was very relaxed and comfortable, will always come back here.
Rooms: Nice rooms, backside face the lake and has good view.
Walkability: Sidewalk throughout and not much traffic in the area.
