Dear Jacquelyn, First let me say that I am truly sorry that you are or were experiencing problems with your roof. Please allow me to explain what I think the situation is and how it has unfolded. We installed your roof approximately 20 years ago in 2005 when your twins and our son were 2 years old. Since then, unfortunately we have had numerous hurricanes, devastating thunderstorms and countless days of high winds uncommon for our area that loosened your ridgevent. We were never contacted by you for a roof inspection or heard anything about any concerns including leaks until last year. I even double checked our records to make sure we didn't miss any communication from you and we hadn't. Per our records you contacted us about a leak on 12/27/22. We immediately came out and after you agreeing we repaired it for $330.00 on 1/11/23. The contract that you signed stated "no warranty" and that if it leaked again we would need to replace the ridgevent. We did identify the problem and it seemed from our end that the repair must have worked because we did not hear from you again until almost a year later on 12/11/23. We again were out to you within days to access the leaking and provided another proposal to you for $885.00. You agreed to this proposal and we performed the repair. As you stated we had multiple torrential storms that seemed to make the leaking much worse. We came out again and installed a tarp at no charge since we were expecting another bad storm. Yes, those storms made the leaking worse. The shingles we installed 20 years ago had a 25-year warranty against manufacture defects. Many companies would have proposed to replace the roof because that's all they will deal with. Your roof shingles were not the problem and did not need to be replaced. Your 20 year old aluminum ridgevent was loosened by the wind which caused the caulking to come off the fasteners. This was nothing we did wrong. Curtis who did your first repair has 30 years of roofing experience, and Junior who did your second repair has 15 years of roofing experience. Even with that amount of experience, diagnosing a leak can still be a difficult thing. While most companies only replace roofs we are part of a small group of companies that will handle small repairs. We place about 600 roof per year and we have always offered free inspections. We don't automatically inspect every 5 years as you suggested but will respond immediately when a customer needs our help. It truly saddens us when we get these type of reviews because it goes against everything we stand for and believe in. I truly and respectfully feel you are painting an inaccurate picture of my local family run company that truly cares about their customers. I also have to respectfully say that we did not do a horrible job or install your roof incorrectly. As proof to this and with our experience with insurance work, your adjuster would not have approved an insurance claim if the roof had been installed incorrectly. It was approved because it was an act of nature. Again, we installed your roof 20 years ago and you had a 10 year warranty on our workmanship. We tried to repair the leak since at the time a full replacement was not needed. Your roof was installed correctly and I would put our experience and reputation against any adjuster that would say otherwise. We are affiliated with most insurance companies, certified by all major shingle manufacturers, and are HAAG certified inspectors that insurance co's call upon for expert evaluations and inspections. You leaking, along with thousands in our area, was caused by wind. We have known each other for years and we NEVER forget about the clients that supported us from the beginning which was even longer than when we did your roof and we continue to do so.
